The B series definitely have a governor on the engine. It's an integral part of the injector pump and varies the fuel injection rate to maintain constant engine across varying engine loads. Because of it, the engine RPMs should remain pretty much constant regardless of whether you are sitting still, have your mower engaged, or are mowing heavy grass. At some point of course the fuel is being delivered at maximum rate and the engine will no longer be able keep up and will start to lose RPMs. But, this loss of RPMs shouldn't happen until the engine is delivering it's full 30 or 40 HP or whatever it produces.

It's certainly possible, but I'd be real surprised if the Ls don't have governors. I just assumed that all modern tractors have them - afterall, even the simplest lawn mower engine has one.

Re: What is an xm27 tire?

Had to rework the loader frame for more room. They are just bigger. See photos.

Same rims? What loader frame rework was required?

The governor works both ways, underspeed and overspeed. I don't thing diesels are built without governors, or at least I've never seen one that didn't. Even car diesels like Mercedes have governors.

You bring up a good point. There are really two types of governors:

One that regulates to a specific RPM setting by increasing/decreasing the fuel injected as the engine RPMs drop/rise compared to the set speed. This type is used on lawn mowers, tractors, and other equipment that's meant to run at constant speed, but with varying loads.

The other type is a rev limiter and is solely intended to back off the fuel if the engine exceeds it's max allowable RPM to prevent engine damage. I expect this is what's on a car diesel. These were on the old VW buses to prevent overrevving too.

Re: What is an xm27 tire?

Nope, you have to get new rims. heres a photo of the work that was done.

Hayden, having put close to 1000 hours combined on a B2150 and a B2710,and having a whopping 10 hours on our L4610,I can tell you that I am in LOVE.I can not find anything that I don't like about this Tractor. The L-Series is soo smooth and soo easy to handle, and the Power is AWESOME.If you're thinking of making the plunge, now is a good time to do it,terms are as good as it gets, and I can promise you that will not regret the move.
