Well everyone, I work in an Offshore enviroment, we got email from one of our buyers we get most of our raw steel from, due to the crisis in Japan steel is going up 20%. Has anyone heard about this, if so might be a good ideal to buy that kind of chain for 39.00, thats what i have paid in the past for it. I guess cement will be next.

aw direct is obscenely overpriced on everything in their catalog. i wouldnt buy anything from them. if you have an account with them, the price drops a bit, but not much, and not enough to make them competitive.

Well, like I said, I just wanted to pass along the info. Looks like there are better "options".

This place is running a 20% discount. Don't know if it's a bargain or not. Just got it in my email and thought I would pass along the info.

I bought a set of four tie down chains (G70, 5/16", 16 ft long, G70 grab hooks each end) for $29.24 each from anythingtruck.com. UPS ground: $58.95.
This amounts to $2.75/foot including shipping. The local TSC has 20 ft G70 5/16" chain with G70 grab hooks each end for $64.99 ($3.25/foot).

I dont buy my chains at TSC, they are to high as anyone can see, I have bought a few from Low's and Home Depot, they have good prices most of the time.

Next time I'm down in NH I'll stop by Horrible Freight and pick up a couple of GR70 5/16" 20' chains. I just can't bring myself to use my US made 3/8" chains for dragging trees.
