Absolutely can’t stand them..the double lanes are the worst.

Make no sense to me. Supposed to make traffic flow better but actually make everybody slow down and look all around like they are lost.

I think the biggest problem is people no longer respect the concept of a stop sign. So a 4 way stop with an low island in the middle seams to be a better alternative. That is, to stop people from running the stop signs. And I hope some one comes up with a way to enforce "Right on Red" laws. Somehow the "after coming to a full stop" part has gotten lost.

I like the concept of traffic circles but the implementation stinks in most of them here in Fl. The diameter on most is to small to allow for a truck and trailer of any size to fit. And the multi-lane ones are to small to allow the move over to the inside lane and then get back to exit.
Somehow "Such turning traffic shall yield the right-of-way to pedestrians lawfully within an adjacent crosswalk and to other traffic using the intersection" has also gotten lost.

Yes. I drive a roundabout twice daily. There's a jogging walking biking path that crosses at the roundabout. State law says you stop for pedestrians. I do. Horns blare.

Looking at some of the above roundabouts, they sure don't make an easy way for pedesterans(sp?) to cross the street any more. Or for cyclists to flow through a roundabout. Jon

So do walkers go to the center then out the direction they want? Jon

We have a bunch of roundabouts here and they work fine once people learn how to. No big t-bones...just fender benders. I have yet to see an accident in one here though. A half filled liquid semi flipped over in one though. We will be getting a new diverging diamond intersection soon and they work nice.

Just had an accident near here.

"A Washougal man was killed and a Vancouver man was injured Wednesday in a head-on collision at the roundabout on state Highway 14 at Washougal River Road."

One of the drivers went the wrong way in the roundabout.

The story......both vehicles totaled? It must be a different type of roundabout than we have!

Here's a picture. There are crosswalks at each ent/ex of the roundabout. So if you're approaching the roundabout, it's pretty straight forward if there's a pedestrian coming from right or left: you stop and let them cross in front of you.

But it you're already in the roundabout and you come around the curve and there's a pedestrian entering the crosswalk for the exit you're wanting to take, you stop to let them cross, then take your exit.

Seems simple enough, except the car or cars behind you in the roundabout can't see the pedestrian and have no idea why you're stopping. Everyone slams on their brakes and starts honking.

Don't have many around here, but if I'm with the wife, I definitely drive around it a few times till she has to say Stop lol

More popping up here all of the time. I like them in place of 4-way stops on 1 lane roads. Didn't like them at first, but I've come...'round. The multi-lane ones with higher traffic levels are a hot mess. Most of the 'good ones' are on roads when 18 wheelers are not supposed to to anyway.

I went through some in Dubai that were maybe six lanes and jam packed from all directions. Horns honking everywhere bumper to bumper. Alaska has several. First time I dealt with them was in England. Right hand drive its a wonder I even lived over that. Didnt see any in central America. Germany and Italy has them.

Yes, we hit one of those in Springfield, MO a few weeks ago. YIKES!!!

It feels so weird to cross oncoming traffic, then drive the wrong way across a bridge, then cross back over again. Goes against everything you're ever taught.

Circles are bad enough, have you ever tried a diverging intersection like this one in Ankeny IA?
They work smooth and fast if everyone follows the signs.
