I am looking for paint to match the yellow that King Kutter uses on their implements in order to touch up my tiller. Has anyone been able to find a spray can that comes close to matching the color?

I heard it is Caterpillar Yellow. TSC does stock that color in some of their stores but I mainly find some other generic yellow they carry, which doesn't match too well.

I applied some cat paint to my KK rotary cutter when putting on my chain guards. Matched to a T. ;)

TSC carries two yellows in rattle cans. Equipment yellow which matches Cat yellow and Transport Yellow which matches JD yellow. You probably picked up the wrong one by mistake.

Equipment yellow is the one I tried from TSC, and it is not very close to the KK implements I have. It looks like a compromise between Case and Cat yellows to me. They do carry Caterpillar yellow too, but I haven't seen it in all stores. I wonder if Equipment yellow replaced Cat yellow, or vica versa.

Thanks for the help. I'll pick up a can of the Cat yellow today to try.

You would think TSC would carry paint to match their implements, but the staff at my (not very good) local TSC said they do not. "Why bother to touch it up, just re-paint the whole thing." was their answer as to why they don't carry the paint.

The spray at TSC made by BPS #5339-08 Equipment Yellow is very close. There were 2 different equipment yellows at the TSC here in Plant City, Fl. I had Sherwin Willaims do a match for me that is an excellent color likeness. You could go to a S.W. close to you and ask them if they can pull up the formula # from my can ;), 2035-0031597. "All Surface" oil enamel. This should give them the color formula. If they need , call the S.W. here, 813-752-9484. Ask for the equipment yellow formula in their computer under the name Gene ODonnell. The date was 6-27-09. The ticket order # is OEOO31597Q2035. This is a very good product and I think you will be happy. Spray paints just don't seem to be very durable to me.

Here's a link to the Caterpillar Yellow at TSC that I was talking about. There was a thread on here some time ago asking a similar question and someone replied that they called KK to find the correct color. KK told them to use Caterpillar yellow. I have not tried this though.

I picked up a can of the "New Caterpiller Yellow" from TSC and it's a pretty close match.

If you really want to be **** there are companies that will put whatever color you want in a spray can for you. You could use Gene's formula and get it put in cans at Tower Paint 800-779-6520. It's not cheap, but if you are re-doing a car it's handy to have touch up when painting a frame, engine, etc.

The paint I bought at Sherwin Williams was about $13.00 for a quart can. No charge for matching of course. I brushed 2 coats on my disc frame and there is still quite a bit in the can. I think that is much cheaper than buying spray cans that don't produce much product. If it would have been for a larger project I would have thinned a bit and sprayed with a gun.
