Anyone know what this is

Found this the other day tilling the garden. I think our lot used to be and old junkyard or auto repair place. I've tilled up more car parts than I can count. This one is by far the most interesting. Thought it might be off of a Pontiac Chieftain but not quite the same. I've searched the internet with no luck and the family doesn't know either.
Any info is appreciated.

I don't know what it is but it is off a mercury not a pontiac.

It's called "Mercury Man Logo" I haven't found much info on it or a picture of a part that resembles yours
