Anyone have a Tajfan logging winch?

To help me in my war on Cedar trees I have decided to buy a Tajfun logging winch like a Farmi but has a 200lb heavier frame, 200' of 3/8" cable compared to 165' of 5/16", automatic band brake instead of dog rachets, larger winch drum, heavier clutch, and pulls 6614 lbs. Includes large safety screen, trailer hitch and three cable sliders for pulling more than one tree at a time.

This is their smallest model. Has anyone used one?

Check out this link. Great article on the Tajfun Tajfun article These folks are only about 30 minutes from me and Tajfun folks only about an hour or so.

I have no affiliation with that company or the man in this article but I do know that everyone I have talked to who owns one believes them to be the best.

Anders Rosenlund is who I have been working with for over a month, pulled the trigger today and ordered.

How much was your winch? I'm looking at the Farmi JL 351 P with 180" 3/8 cable, 7700lb capacity for 20-40hp tractors for $2,500 add $200 for the screen. I have not seen either of them in person, but my dealer swears by Farmi.

$2325.00 delivered to OK, got in on the end of a special at the end of last year. They are alittle more now.

We have had a chance to compare the winches side by side with other brands. They were at the Paul Bunyon Show in Nelsonville Ohio. The Tajfan winches are very well built and are the same price or cheaper than the competition. We do not stock them but are planning to in the future. If you would like more info just give us a yell.

The last price list I have shows the 4 ton at $2745 plus shipping. It is the EGV40A2 which is rated at 8818lbs of pull (brk power is 11023lbs), with 200 ft of 3/8ths cable(will hold 361ft), end hook, 3 cable sliders and the screen. Weighs in at 683lbs.
You would have to see the units to really appreciate the quality. The welds are flawless and everything is very precision.

Anders got right back to me with info the most important of which is that there is a Tajfun dealer here in Maine about 20 miles from my house /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif That should help with shipping! I am going to have a look this week end.

David, wish I had a dealer close, bet there's not a single Farmi or Tajfun logging winch anywhere here in Oklahoma yet, but I could be wrong.

Let me know what you think of them, I will be lucky if mine gets here by the end of next week.

Company is located in Slovenia, and have pretty good products. Their products are common in our country in forestry work, so it will be premium for homeowner.

If you'll have any issues about language, ask me, as I understand Slovenian language pretty good.

I emailed Scandinavian Forestry Tech in Idaho last night after reading this thread and was surprised to get a personal telephone call from Anders this AM. We discussed what size would be best for my tractor, cost, etc. He was a fine Gentleman as you mentioned. Found out there's a Dealer approximately 200 miles from where I live and he currently has 4 in stock. Anders manages his own woodlot. so has quite a bit of experience with tractor mounted winches. I respect the fact that he didn't bad mouth other brands. I mentioned that i read about the winch on TBN. He wasn't aware of this site and planned to check it out. Now if I can get that 5 acres sold.

Thanks ZJ, could you find out what they think about their 16 HP Min. on my 13.5 HP PTO? My B21 will handle it and it might not do the full 6600 lbs, but I wonder what the factory would say.

Tell me what model you're looking for, and I'll try to call them next week. Probably smallest EGV30A.

For me it is not an issue about hp, as this data is for recommended tractor power (your is Kubota, 21hp?), not a PTO power.

Real issue is weight and strenghtness of 3 pt hitch of your tractor. Note that this winch has cable pulley mounted on top of winch, above top link pin, and almost all force will be transfered to top link. Be careful with this, as you have small and light built tractor, not an rough ag tractor.

It was post about hyd housing damage, caused by winch, about year ago. I don't want scare you, just warn what winch can do, if you are not carefull enough /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

ZJ I thought that meant PTO power, and yes I ordered a EGV30A. All the large logs will be cedar at 100" long so a couple of them might not be too heavy.
