Anyone have a 3120?

Hello everyone...I'm trying to make my decision about a 2520 or would I be overkilling with a 3120. Thanks for any help.

Could you give us some details about what the tractor will be used for. Mowing, loading, etc. Size of yard and other small details so we could further help you.

I have 20 acres of woods, hay, rolling hills. I'll be doing some backhoe work and FEL work. I have to mow about 6 acres now with my 970 that has a 72in mmm. I'm not sure if the 46bh will be big enough for some of the work around the ponderosa but I have read a lot of post about the bh on the 2520.

I have a John deere 3120 and love it. I have tackled many job and it has not fail yet.I is much more stable then the 2520 and the 3120 standed E-Hydro make thing so much more fun.My 3120 has third SCV,300X loader,rear fender extestions,front fenders,trailer light hook up plug kit,forwarding lights, rear work lights, vertical exhaust,coolant engine heater,deluxe hood guard,rear wheel weights,warning brush guards.back up alarm,cruise control upgrade,front 42lbs. weights,60" heavy duty bucket,60" rear finshing mower. I would say 3120 all the way.the 3120 is the way to go.try one you will love it.good luck

I have the 3120's predecessor, the 4310. If at all possible, get the bigger machine. These things shrink after you own them, and with the configuration you describe, I don't think you would see a huge savings going to the 2000.

eHydro and the RSA backhoe design are huge pluses...

I moved up from a 650 to a 2520. I wanted the 3120, but since I also traded in my mower I settled on the 2520. I figured the lighter weight would be better for a tractor that is mainly used to mow yards. I am pretty happy with what I have except for the seat. It rides rough compared to the deere mower I had. Today I'm doing a demo drive with a 2520 and a 3320 since my local dealer doesn't have a 3120 on site. I'll post the results later.

i had been thinking about the 2520,but when i saw one alongside the 3120 it seemed a little light duty for my purposes,which for the most part involve a variety of loader related work with mowing being a secondary consideration. i felt the heavier machine and 300cx loader would be a much more stable unit.also,i felt that i may be overworking the smaller machine.of course,when i got further into the comparison,i opted for the 3320 which only cost about a grand more than the 3120,mostly due to the extra cost of the optional ehydro.the extra horsepower and added resale value was,in my opinion,worth the extra money.

I ordered a 3120 Monday this week, will take delivery by Wed. next. Can let you know what my impressions are in the next couple weeks.

I'm moving up from a 2210, 80% of the time were cutting grass. I have a 20 hour reclaim project as soon as it broken in with the FEL and box blade.

I bought a 3120 eHydro in April and have about 120 hours on her now. She's quite a step up from my 4100, which I still have. The 300CX FEL is awesome! And my Woods 6500 BH is now on the right tractor for the job. Oddly, even with that BH the rear end can get light with a full bucket at full height. Not scary light but definitely noticeable. One thing I learned recently is that if I apply the parking brake, I can get out of the seat without putting the range control in neutral. Same for engaging the rear PTO for my backhoe. Saves a bit of time. I was considering a 3203 and someone here suggested I look at a 3120 for about the same money. That 300CX alone swung the deal for me!
