Our summer birds left last week but we kept the feeders up and maintained for any migrating birds that might stop by. In prior years we left the feeders out as well but never paid much attention. This year we have.

We had multiple visits from travelers and they do not look at all like our summer birds. We've a number of small ones, yet some big ones too. This tells me some big birds sheperd the young on the trip.

We've had a few small almost black little birds plus some adult blackish adults. Light green birds and birds with what I think is a slightly different body shape. We've probably had 50 visits that we have seen. Food supply is dropping more than 50 birds would use so they must feed when we aren't watching. The busiest time is just before sunrise and a couple hours after that. Then again near sunset and a little after. I wonder where they're coming from?

Now we need to figure out how they know we're here. Did they stop here on the way north in the spring? Maybe word of mouth? Maybe we're just on the flyway?

We still have a few, less and less every day.

I put new feeders yesterday, the ones I took dy were just low. I put the ones I took down on the handrail. The birds have been the busiest we ever seen. Maybe 6 birds, at least. Probably more .
I moved them to hooks we had plants before.
The picture doesn’t show them good.
Saw ten or more now.😀

We had a storm front move in a week ago; a few days with high temperatures in the 50s and 60s and a few light rain showers so I figured the hummers would figure it was time to head south. Nope! Busy as ever, every day, around the feeders.

Our activity is picking up. Shortly we will be heading into the "second camel hump" of the year when the travelers from Canada and Alaska make their way through and the resident year-round birds run out of other food.
