wow, great feedback.

I stopped by the dealer again today and sat on both and felt real comfortable on the 2320. Let's face it there both great machines. One is a mower / loader machine (2320) and the other a loader/backhoe / mower (2520).

The $3,400 cost difference is becasue the tractor is $2,400 more and the mower is more in my case becasue the 2320 will take a 54" MMM and I have to go up to a 62" on the 2520 which is $500 more and the ind. lift and diverter valve are approx. $400 more on the 2520 vs. 2320.

Okay, I came home from dealer saying the 2320 is great for me until I read Rogator's post. Now I am going to take my wife for a ride to the dealer so I can take another look and get another confusing opinion. She is telling me to "go big or go home". Anyway, the delaer is closed now so it's a good time to go and check them out without being hassled by sales folks.

Stay tuned...

Try them all out. The nice thing is the footprint on the 2520 is not that much bigger but it is a lot more machine. It does weigh more. Do you really want the larger mowing deck?

Maybe I missed a post - what do you not like about your 2305?

I dont want a bigger deck but was told you cant get a 54" on a 2520.

Okay just got back from the dealership and my wife and took another look. After seeing them side by side I want one of each. I guess you cant always use the go big or go home theory.

They're both great machines and I think the 2320 would easily meet my needs. Honestly, I just want the ground clearnace, extra stability and no hydro fan / low hanging filter to deal with any more.

I might call the dealer tomorow morning and try and wrap up the deal on the 2320. Unless of course I keep reading and get all confused again...

Thanks guys...

I love my 2320. Sometimes I wish I had a 3320 or a 4000 series machine, but that is seldom (and only to move large round bales around, but I get by just fine without the larger machine 98% of the time). I never wish I had a 2520 over the 2320. If I had the 3320, their would be times I would rather have the 2320.

It think I use my machine like a normal small property owner would. 4 foot bush hog, post hole digger, arena rake and landscape rake, seed/fertilizer spreader and boxblade work. It's mostly around my property, but I have taken it to some friend places as well. It gets 100-150 hours per year on it. If I had a commercial business where time was money, I would have bought a 2520 to get the benefit of the faster cycle times. For my limited operation, I don't miss the small extra amount of time I have to use the machine for loader work.

I bet they won't cut grass as nice as the 2305.

After much research and many test drives of New Holland, Kubota and JD I narrowed my search to the 2320 and 2520. While there was not doubt that I'd love to have the 2520, the fact was I didn't NEED it. Sure there are times where a bigger tractor would be nice, but 95% of the time my tractor does what I want even if it's a little slower or not quite as powerful. If the price difference was $750 or less I could justify it. But IMO that's simply too much extra for not a whole lot of benefit. In fact my JD salesman told me not to buy the 2520!

To all of you 2320 /2520 owners:

I've got a couple of questions..

My first delima was my wife said I had to choose...new tractor or new Harley..not both. My Harley is a 1996 vintage with 98,000 miles and my tractor is a 1943 Farmall A with so many hours, that only God knows, plus I really hate the manual gear shift routine on the A.

So my choice was made...

tell her I was buying a $43K 4520 w/ attachments.....I got scolded, yelled at and called a few unnecessary names. So after a cooling of phase, I told her I would come in under $23K. Guess what, she said ok (Psych 101...ask for more than you want so you can negotiate down to what you wanted to begin with...)

I'm on top of the fence in the land of confusion with 2305JD ...2520 or 2320... in Ia, the difference between the two with mmm and fel, is the price of a Curtis soft cab...$2200....$19600 vs 17,400

Since neither one will pull my little NH baler and I am going to use it 85% or more to mow with, I'm leaning towards the 2320 and have some $$ left over for extras...Curtis Cab, snow blower etc. But since I have a $23K limit, I'm not sure.

I am a guy after all....bought a ski boat...yr later wanted more HP and so on. Also, as Rogator said..."over the life of the tractor..."

(now I know what my wife goes through every time she goes shopping for shoes...too many choices)

Now finally to my questions:

1) did any of you go with the independent lift kit (and mechanical diverter kit)

2) any dealer installed work lites...forward, rear
they don't look to hard to install, plus I think I want to mount on ROP

3) did you upgrade to 35A altenator

4)FEL..what size bucket

That must be one small baler.
