As I read all these great replies the heat kicks on. Then the light bulb in my head also came on. The laundry has a cold air return in it. Metal ducting. This might all be mute, but I'll do a test run. Peter, you are correct on the noise of these dehydrators.
My local HD looks like they have some sound insulation options anyways. Different brand than Rockwool though. We'll see where I go with this. Thanks for the replies folks.
You can buy metal ducts with insulation on the inside specifically for sound deadening, but I don't know if it is worth the hassle to retrofit...I have used it for commercial installations.

All the best,

Peter

I owned a 1920 ish 2 bedroom Craftsman style bungalow 30 years ago. It had an insulated on the inside, plenum and main trunk line. We seldom heard the furnace run.

I have a cedar timber house. Pan Abode out of Redmond, WA. The timbers are 4"x6" - tongue and groove. It's assembled just like a Lincoln log child's toy. It's double wall with a 4" air gap between the inner and outer wall. The air gap is filled with R-Max rigid, foil enclosed insulation. The roof has six inches of this same insulation. The walls are rated at R-48 - the ceiling is rated at R-62. If we ever hear an outside noise - it rates a look-see.

I just installed sound deadening insulation in a bathroom that I'm remodeling. It was from Lowes. The bathroom is between the living room and the master bedroom. Before, you could hear every sound coming from the bathroom. Now you don't hear anything!!!!

It's miserable stuff to work with. Wear a mask, wear long sleeves, hire somebody else to handle it!!! My nose never stopped running, and I itched until I took a shower. It's ten times worse to deal with then fiberglass insulation. It's really bad.

But it works!!!!

We did denim insulation in our new home build 9 years ago in all interior walls. Well worth the money spent. It's also easy to work with.
