Re: Anybody using Amsoid diesel oil in kubota?

Did you do the bore and hone for power "hopping it up " or for repair ? repair? are you kidding. Gixxers do not break unless the rider is abuses the bike (just plain dumb). They are a bullet proof (+). I was/am prepping it for a turbo this fall. I will have around 200 +/- 20 hp on it. You can't just slap a turbo on and call it a day. I also had to install larger carbs (42mm) on it and some minor cam work. I will still use a 100% synthetic in it (20w-50) So far, none of my transportation means has had any problems with oil related problems. The standard 3000 miles is a joke.
"Also the regular olis have changed a lot in 60 years". hmmm, not really. Same junk different bottle. Run a turbo with regular oil for about 1 hour above 900 degree and watch what happens? Try it with synthetic and then see what happens? HUGE difference.
"Synthetic oil is good but so are the premium regular oils if you change it frequently and use a good filter. " You hit it on the nose. Why pay for a premium regular oil when you can add about 20% more and get real oil that outperforms (in many ways) the Wal-Mart, jiffy lube oils. I guess I like better oils in my expensive toys.
You do not see MB or BMW with regular oils? The dealers /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif when people want the cheaper stuff. They know these people drive their car hard and it needs it.
Lastly, I tried Deer oil in my old tractor, Ford oil in my Powerstroke along Delvac in my diesels and the tests came back ok to under par. I then switch to a synthetic and the tests came back about 60% better. Lower Al, less soot, high Potassium (K), Calcium (Ca) for protection was high as they should be and my TBN was almost like new.
Test both oils and then see the results. I was amazed on how bad regular oils were. It could be overkill but, You get what you pay for
