Maybe we should take this discussion back to the skid plate thread before we completely confuse poor Moss.

That's ok, one chicken mauling Fox has already turned him into a armed sweaty twitchy straight jacket escapee....

Moss, I bought one of these a few years ago:
2" to 4-1/4" Oil Filter Wrench

I'll be darned if it has not worked on every filter I have from the car, to the dually to the tractor...best $7 I think I ever spent.

That is exactly the one I have. Puts a scratch or dent in the old filter but who cares? You shouldn't use the wrench to tighten new filters anyway. Great simple tool.

You will also need a 24mm socket for the front axle plugs.

We have one of those...It's has been great!!!

I don't think I'll ever go back to manual or air powered again...

I agree. Makes greasing the tractor both faster and less tiresome. I also have gotten used to the sound and speed so I can tell pretty quickly if a zerk is plugged. Also, because I don't need to be grunting and pushing, I can pay attention to watching for signs of excess grease oozing out around the pins so I can stop pumping faster and create less of a mess.

I have the cheaper ?12v model which has been fine. For some reason Lincoln makes two models, one much more expensive than the other. Lucky me was given the more expensive one as a spare by a neighbor when he sold his commercial TLB but I am still using the cheapo version...going strong after 4 years.

Flare Wrench? What's that?

I thought I had a good grease gun, but some of the zirks are NOT accepting grease and the stuff just smears all over the outside of the Zirk...

I just bought a set of "Filter Pliers" and a part chain, part metal strap "Adjustable Filter Wrench" this morning...

David

David I found one Zerk that would not take grease, it is the lower one on the Right Hand Lift Link rod, there is no outlet for the grease and it was full, I opened the ball with the tip of my knife and grease shot out of it under pressure. All the others did, if you have one that will not take grease, operate the ball with the tip of your knife, make sure it is not painted over (found 3 on my Kubota that way where the dealer just shot some grease around them and none went inside on the loader) Or take the Zerk out and check for a clog, and/or take the pin out and find out why the grease is not going in.

Here is a Flare wrench

Common item. Check Amazon or Northern Tool for starters. Again, there are at least two versions. One is 12v and works fine. Probably marketed as consumer grade. The other one is ?14.4 or higher voltage and is about double the price as I recall. I have both and don't notice a substantial difference in construction.

Here is the current 12v version, looks a bit different than mine, at least the case is different and is about $80 more than I paid. Could be I bought mine on sale somewhere else on line. I was shocked too. I paid something slightly under $100 which is bad enough. See if you can borrow one to try. It is somewhat more than a simple convenience item but hardly critical. I'd rank it somewhere between the draft control and cup holder.
