Kioti DK50SE HST w/FEL, Gravely 60" ZTR Mower. Stihl MS290 (selling), CS261, & FS190 + Echo CS400 & 2010 F-350 6.4 PSD snowplow truck
I keep getting stuck not owning the right tools.

Today I got the oil drained, only to break my filter wrench.

I've been looking for a 22 MM boxwrench for the hyd lines. The Oil drain is 19 MM (I have a socket, but no box wrench).

One of you guys with nore hours than me, you MUST have a list of essential tools for your Kioti DKxx series.

Thanks in advance,
David

I don't know about special tools but as you have discovered, a set of half inch metric wrenches and sockets are necessary for just doing routine maintenance and tightness checks. I just did my semiannual checks on loader mount and BH mounts and used (I think) the 19 through 22 or 23mm sockets. I don't use the torque wrench unless I find something loose to my max pull on a 10inch socket wrench but you'll need one to properly tighten wheel lugs, BH subframe and loader mounts anyway. I have a set of large HF adjustable wrenches to deal with tow balls etc. The only other "special" tool I can think of is a sturdy filter wrench. I use the adjustable C clamp style.

Semi-related question, how good are the store-brand wrenches & sockets they sell at TS? Other than paying thru the nose at NAPA, they seem to be about the only place locally that carries the larger sizes.

A good grease gun is a must. And skid plates if my friend Island Tractor gets a going.
And Flare wrenchs for Hydraulic fittings.

Unless you are a professional mechanic or just a lover of fine tools, I find the HF or TSC stuff fine. I have mostly HF stuff in the larger metric sizes as I am closest to a HF store. No problems but again I haven't really done much other than tighten or loosen routine stuff. Not so sure I'd have as much trust in the HF impact wrench sockets but I'll probably wait until I break some before shelling out real money for better quality. Again, I don't make my living with the tools so I can afford to be cheap.

Flare Wrench? What's that?

I thought I had a good grease gun, but some of the zirks are NOT accepting grease and the stuff just smears all over the outside of the Zirk...

I just bought a set of "Filter Pliers" and a part chain, part metal strap "Adjustable Filter Wrench" this morning...

Agree on the grease gun obviously. I like my Lincoln battery powered gun but also use one of the manual types that works like a big pair of scissors. That one has a rigid rather than flexible hose and is useful for tight fittings if I can get access.

Update on the skidplates: I checked and cannot make the ones that Bob42 designed fit on my machine due to the Woods subframe. When I modify the design a bit and make some that fit my machine I'm still happy to make up a few extra sets. I'll try to come up with something that would work if the subframe was not present. Or, as a one off special present, I'll make you a set of Bob's design! Just keep reminding me!

Moss, I bought one of these a few years ago:
2" to 4-1/4" Oil Filter Wrench

I'll be darned if it has not worked on every filter I have from the car, to the dually to the tractor...best $7 I think I ever spent.

Well my friend, I have a back hoe too and it looks like the plate for the hoses would work but not for the filter. so is yours the same?

Moss, Flarewrenchs are used for hydra fittings so you don't round off the connections.

.

Do you have the Woods BH90x or the Kioti? I have some photos of my subframe if that helps but I know the subframe for Kioti is quite different. I had a BH2365 on my CK20 so know that is a rectangular tube arrangement with different dimensions than the Woods which is made of 3/4" plate so dimensions are likely to be different.

I was thinking that the wire junction area under the left side of the operator station would be similar as it is higher than the subframe. However the right side area where the loader hoses terminate is pretty well blocked off by my subframe.

Maybe we should take this discussion back to the skid plate thread before we completely confuse poor Moss.
