Hi I'm new at this site and new to charging tractor airconditioner.im using the Single hose that comes with a can .starting out it only read 20 psi in the white part of the gauge meaning it was low. I put two twelve ounce cans in and it still was reading low so I put a third can in drove it for twenty minutes now it is reading hi.when it cycles it's in the yellow when it shuts off it jumps up into the red.it only stays on now for about three seconds then back off just does this continuously. My thinking is I have to much in it and the high pressure switch keeps kicking it back off.i think I need to let some out of the system until I get it reading correctly on the gauge. Am I heading in the right direction or not thanks Rick

How are you charging the system? Elevated engine speed? Cabin fan on high?

Not sure about your systems coolant capacity, but 3 cans is likely much too much even if system was complete empty.

Can’t tell much about A/C system operation with only single guage (low side) pressure reading. Without high pressure reading, can’t access whether compressor and rest of system is working properly or not. Simply charging with single hose is OK system is only low on coolant and if everything else is working properly. Otherwise it’s a usually a waste of time and money.

Air conditioning repair is not a DIY effort. We can稚 help much without basic info like WHAT TRACTOR ARE YOU WORKING ON?
You cannot do much good without a set of service gauges. Guessing high side pressures is a surefire failure recipe. As Chewwy says, your system is all but certain to be overcharged.

What model of tractor. What type of AC fluid does it use?

Do it yourself AC fixes are short term at best. Some of the can stuff contains propane and real AC techs wont touch systems where the owner has dumped stuff in.

Some AC fluids are Azeotropic, i.e. a blend of two or more fluids. These cannot be charged using a vapor phase process.

There is a leak. It needs to be properly identified and fixed and then the system dryer replaced, followed by a measured recharge.

It is a kubota L3600 it's a little above idle speed I'm using a Single hose with a gauge from local parts store.how do I post pictures I haven't figured that out yet

I am with Rick. You are wasting your time with a hose/gauge/can of refrigerant and you could create more expensive repairs. AC technology is complex; to do proper diagnostics and repairs has a seep learning curve. Tractor brand/size is the least important. AC info is probably not in the WSM even if you have one.

I was an AC&R Tech in my younger day but now do not work on my own ACs even though I have all the equipment and tools still. Technology and system engineering has left me in the dust.

Did you buy your "L" new? The AC is an add on and they should have given you or the original buyer the owner manual for the AC. Refrigerant and oil requirements and quantaties should be in it. The oil is special also and is critical. With leaks you lose oil also.

The ac is factory

Likely you are overcharged and flooding the compressor. 3 cans (36) oz + what was already in there ??? is a lot of refrigerant for a small system. Keep in mind these things are charged by weight +/- 1 oz using a refrigerant scale.

Make sure radiator and a/c coil is clean and with gauges you will need to run it wide open ie 2200 rpm or what ever the line for 540 pto is. If you have a leak you need to have a shop fix it and most likely should not run it till you have trained ac tech look at it now as you may destroy the pump with it being over charged.

Likely charged by weight due to economics. Newer refrigerants MUCH more expensive than the old stuff that used to be used years ago (R12).
