Thank you for that. Looks like I’m going press shopping. Been looking for an excuse for years to buy one. Maybe Santa can bring one :)

Miner was kinked. I had to retube the drive shaft. I also put a protector around it, so if the drive shaft ever gets loose again the damage is contained

after fixing my sloppy rear axle bushings, the driveshaft was dangerously close to the oil pan. I believe it was a combination of welding the new bushing in the wrong spot, and worn out front engine mounts. My options were to cut the bushing back off, or replace the motor mounts...or both. I found a work around though...

I used three washers on the front mount of the subframe. This essentially tilted the axle towards the front, lowering the driveshaft clear of the oil pan.

You can see in this pic how the forward motor mounts are sagging about a 1/2”. Not sure I want to go through all the heartache to replace them. There are no cracks or breaks, they are just tired I think.

Working on the brakes tonight. The left brake is working fine, but the right brake cable is froze up. No amount of penetrating oil is freeing it up. Looks like I’ll need a new one...ugh.

Putting out fires tonight after some Thanksgiving turkey.

Discovered the right push arm mounting bracket had come loose. The forward bolt was gone, and the rear bolt was half way loose. The long bolt I’m pointing to in the picture is the clamp bolt I used to cinch the bracket back up tight as I couldn’t overcome the spring tension for the push arm. I can now clamp the bracket with vice grips, remove the bolt, and install a correct length bolt.

When the bracket came loose it allowed the torsion spring assembly to snap back towards the transaxle. Because of this it was hitting the oil fill tube for the transmission and loosened the fitting up and elongated the hole a bit. After bolting the torsion spring back up I was able to remove the fill tube, wrap it good with Teflon tape, and reinstall.
I also found the reason for the frozen right hand brake. Again, this stupid torsion spring was the culprit. The brake cable runs right through the torsion spring mounting bracket. When it came loose it tweaked the brake line, and actuated the right brake somewhat for God knows how long. I have a new one on order for $70...sheesh.

More progress tomorrow hopefully. I need to get my truck back in the garage before the snow really starts to fly.

Got this toro sweeper for snow removal duty on my blacktop driveway. Seems like the perfect addition to the 322d for snow storms of 5” or less. Anything more than that would probably require a blower.

As part of the deal I also received this mulching deck. It’s going to need some work, but the price was right.

Tonight I will be learning new cuss words as I try and remove the pto belt so I can replace the alternator belt behind it...wish me luck.

Got both driveshafts pulled. You can see how tacoed the long driveshaft is. The hydro shaft is fine.

Got the pto belt partially removed and the alternator belt out. It was so worn out it looked like spaghetti.

Is it labled "Guardian Recycler" on the front?

How about a model number?

Mine is a 1999, model 30716. Note that the rear wheels are fixed, not casters:

My mulched is a model 30716 serial number 30718. It took me a minute to realize the rear wheels were fixed. It looks in decent shape. Will need some straightening and welding. The center spindle is just starting to get sloppy, nothing crazy though.

Changed the fuel filters last night, changed engine oil and filter, and greased zerks.

No telling when this was changed last, but suffice to say...it’s done.

Changed the water separator too. Looks like it hasn’t been changed since 2005.

Replaced both belts. Fan belt was easy, alternator belt was a bit of a struggle. After that was on, I installed the pto belt and pump driveshaft again.

One of my least favorite jobs is doing tires. Got the old one off by slicing the sidewall and prying the bead off from the inside. Installed the new one, but I’m having a problem getting the bead to seat.

Got my driveshaft straightened out in the press. Not perfect, but lots better than it was.
