Any suggestions for barn tin?

Hello. I am in the process of material selection for a 12x24 tractor shed I am building. I looked at the corrugated steel they have (barnmaster II) at the lumber yard. Wow, it is 30ga and paper thin. That sure doesn't look like the stuff that was on my grandma's barn years ago......

Does anyone have any suggestions on a better 2' width metal product and where to get it?

Or, is this 30ga stuff what everybody uses these days?

Don't buy metal at a lumber yard or box store. Go to a metal building supplier. They are everywhere. They have corrugated metal available in 26 ga., 24 ga. and thicker gauges. They will usually cut it to the length you want and are barely higher than box stores with thin metal.

I agree with tallyho. I purchased 26 ga metal from a metal distributor for my lean-to for less than half the price of Lowes. They cut it to length and provided more screws than I could use.

Thanks for the replies. There is actually a metal place right down the road from where I live. I will go check it out.

I have used the thin Barnmaster and it is "OK" but near us there are Mennonites (my areas Ahmish) who sell the good stuff like Tallyho says. If I knew I would have gotten the good stuff but the barnmaster has been quite passable.

Good advice. I wouldn't wrap a sandwich in 30 gauge!
