Any Radiator Screen Suggestions for YM240??

Thanks to this forum and your help, I FINALLY figured out why my YM240 has been running hot. It was running in the 230 range after 30 minutes use and had to be shut down to cool off. I took the suggestion of some of you veterans and blowed the radiator fins out with my compressor. Stuff went flying in every direction! Now I can mow for hours and never get above 180 degrees.

After consulting my manual, I realized there should be a radiator screen (which I don't have) to filter the trash from getting into the radiator fins. The part has been discontinued. Hoye suggested a window screen.

Question: have any of you had to make your own screen and what have you used, mounting hardware, etc? Thanks in advance.

My 1700 has the screen that you are talking about. Hoye Tractor may actually have those. If not I think you could just make one out of metal screen door wire. That is pretty much what it looks like.

I have an extra 1510 screen. Not sure if it will fit. I will get some measurements this afternoon.

I bet the parts guys here have these screens if not get a Kubota or Deere or even a Farmpro prescreen and make it work.. TSC may have one that would work. It is just a plastic frame with screen stretched on it. It fits in those little slots on the front of your Radiator.. Keep it clean after you install it.....I am glad you found your problem.....

Yep.. metal window screen, and whatever you can cobble up as a frame.. steel rod.. square woodruff key stock.. etc.

I would get measurements and have an aluminum screeen made from scratch by a screen manufacturer. ACE or TRUE VALUE hardware does a lot of that, (very easily and quickly).
