I am going to be helping out a friend with his dad's PowerKing tractor as soon as the weather drys out and warms up. Need to replace the belt for the hydralic pump. A local dealer charged him $600 to replace the belt in 1998. The belt needed to be change again in 2009. And now needs to be replaced again. My friend did it in 2009 and said the engine had to be removed. I looked at it today, and it does look like the engine needs to come out. The PowerKing is a 1973 Economy with a Kohler 321S engine. Is there an easier way to change the belt? Thanks.

I don't believe there is an easier way. I have owned my power king since 1978 but it is not hydraulic. There is a yahoo power king group with a lot of helpful fellows. My big question is why the belt needs changed so often. Friend of mine bought his in 1979 and although it isn't used an awful lot, probably 30-50 hrs. a year, the hydraulic belt has never been changed.
