Looking for a UTV for our new property to go along with the Kioti RX7320 we ordered. The Kioti K9 is an option but very expensive. Pricing is around $19k msrp but should be hopefully much lower if I bought it with the tractor. Should know tomorrow.

Also went and looked at Polaris, Can-Am, Honda, and Yamaha today and theirs are all less than that for comparable models.

I get that the Kioti is a diesel and built more for work while most of those others are more for fun but still do work. We owned a Ranger (6 seater) several years and loved it.

I was hoping to get feedback from actual owners of the K9.

My biggest peave with the K9 thus far is the lack of engine braking. The design of the transmission results in engine being disengaged from the wheels when coasting. When coasting downhill, manual braking is required. Not a real big deal but seems like a dumb design.

That’s good feedback because our property is almost all hills. You’d think with that diesel engine that they’d take full advantage of that

My 24 year 2400 cab model has engine braking. I don't think my prior 23 year 2440 model did. I owned the 2440 for about 6 months before trading it in for the 2400 cab model. It was nice but I like the cab one much better. Don't know why but it rides much smoother, the engine feels more controlled and it has that engine breaking. The low range is much lower than the 2440 model was. It is just a more refined feeling machine but I don't know if thats because the 2440 I had was built on an off day, or if they changed that much stuff in the cab models.

For reference I had a open station polaris ranger 1000 before the K9's and it was really nice. I almost went back with a Polaris or CanAm cab model but wanted the convenience of only stocking one type of fuel. When it came to diesel, there just wasn't much option with a cab other than Kubota but I wanted the larger size of the k9 and also I have a great Kioti dealer that has been good to work with.

I saw in a recent Kioti ad that the transmission for the K9 has been redesigned and it now provides engine braking. I’m not sure when this redesign went into the K9s. Likely your dealer would know.

I have one I picked up in February. Spent a couple weeks at the dealer on a warranty item--leaking hydraulic thing that I couldn't get to.

I like it.

Never gets stuck with the Tomahawk tires.

Plenty of power to skid smaller trees.

Dump bed.

I did add a Harbor Freight winch. Used a KFI winch mount.

Cons, it is hilariously loud when starting. Not really a con, just funny. Also the fact I had to have it in for warranty work. Also part 2, it is hard to find a good place to mount a chainsaw-had to make a mount.

The Kubota diesel utvs come with the HST transmission. Im in the market for one, and Ive really focused on the Kubota specifically for that HST and control on my hilly property.

I have a 23 K9 4seater and love it. Way more roomy then the mule and kubota I owned in the past. I like that it is not HST and it has a good deal of pep when you mash on the pedal. The bed is very large and you set a bit more forward then the gator or kubota so your visibility is really good. I have had one warranty/recall with a CV shaft. The price point is pretty good, I was in it for under 20k and it was loaded out with a glass windshield aluminum wheels and a few other goodies.

Why do you prefer the non hst, I believe the Kioti is a cvt belt? Substantially quicker, any other reason? Someone said earlier that the newer Kioti's have engine braking. I haven't crawled around one, but from what I picture in my head(not always accurate) is the belt is being asked to provide that braking control of the engine.

That is decent these days! My nearest Kioti dealer has one for just under 22, and Im not sure that includes a roof/windshield.

I prefer the non HST for several reasons. First is drive quality, when I would cut across rough pasture the the pedal response and feed back was way to jerky in the HST, the belt is so much smoother. Secondly is my old machine always had a trans leak of some sort. Lastly is yes, the belt is much quicker and pleasurable to drive. Also, one last thing was the heat of the HST. I never overheated the engine or had any warning lights come on, but dang after a lot of riding around that trans would heat up and you could feel it radiating on your calves when you would sit on the tailgate.

My k9 must be a non engine braking unit, as i can coast when not on the throttle, which I like. Its dead flat where I am and engine braking would not benefit me.
