Does anyone have any experience with the new John Deere 5003 series, especially the 5403 or the 5603. These are new line of tractors i'm considering? i'm also looking as some kubotas.

thanks

I purchased a 5203. It's a very good machine, no troubles for me.

Go to the deere site - "Support" section. Choose "Manuals / Publications" and type in the model #. i.e. 5403 The Operators Manuals are online.

I bought a 5403 in late 2006. It's got about 250 hours on it now, with no problems. It's a good tractor for the money. If you intend to row crop, there's not enough gear options, but for mainly hay it's fine. It's got a good power to weight ratio, but it's quite light in stock form. I've got 750 lbs. of fluid in each rear tire, plus 660 lbs. of rear wheel weight, and 600 lbs. of front weight. Running high RPMs, such as with a rotary cutter or disc mower, it sucks the diesel quick.

As I've got a smaller acreage (25) I will be taking delivery of a 5103 with a 6ft rotory cutter and 6ft box blade. I've been researching tractors for about a year and settled on this one. Early last year I picked up a power king economy tractor (14HP) with FEL and belly mower. Surprisingly it did quite good on the property. It was only last year that when I was mowing the back section of heavy pasture and started to over heat the motor that I decided it was time for something bigger.

I bought the 5603 FEL and MFWD. Love it!! Made in Georgia USA. I would highly recommend. I really love having a cab tractor. It is very light in stock form as well. Will need ballast weight.

Well I've now taken delivery of my 5103 and I don't regret it at all. I got a 73in FEL, 6ft rotory cutter and a 6ft box blade. I've played this last weekend with it on different things like digging a new fire pit. Cut some heavy brush in front of the property by the road. And leveled my driveway entrance with the box blade. This is the smallest interms of HP of the 5000 series (40 PTO HP) but it seems to have plenty of power so far. The only thing I see that I should have added to my wish list is the wheel weights but I have an idea for that. All in all I think this was a good investment and for a price tag just over $19K I've still got a few bucks left over for additional implements.
