Seeders Any idea what this is?

Guys/Gals,

I picked this up at an auction... Not sure what the heck it is.. I assume it is for a seeder of some sort. I have no need for it, but I'm sure someone on here may know what it is and maybe even what its worth.

Corn or field bean fertilizer hopper from the 40's or 50's.

No offense intended, but I'm curious as to the motivation behind buying stuff without even knowing what it is (?)
Brings to mind Nancy Pelosi saying "we have to pass this bill so you can find out what's in it".

I was buying something else... and when i was biddig on the other product, this was added to the LOT to increase the bidding. So that's how i ended up with it.

I do have an older Cole seeder... but this is not part of that for sure..
No offense taken to your ? .... I do know some people out here are really keen on older tractors and implements and figured I post it out here to see if I could find out what it fit...

That is a seed box for a planter. I have a planter with that exact box. The gear is driven off the press wheel to stir up the seed so it falls down the hole. Below the hole is an assembly to regulate the seed flow. (missing on your unit.)
