Definitely not a tractor attachment LOL

Anyway, a friend sent me these pics, looking for any clue as to identity and use.

It has D.R.G.M. (Deutsche Reich Gebraumeister) numbers, signifying that it is pre WWII.

I saw something very similar overseas. It was a bone crusher and that farmer's family fed crushed bones to free ranged chickens.

Apparently it's really 'Gebrauchmuster', which is similar to a patent mark.

Gotta love the humor :D

We also considered the sheet metal crimper possibility, but it would seem the sharp blades might cut the metal.

Bone crusher?- interesting

Wonder if "Gebrauchmuster" has any records available, seems the WWII era patent records aren't available

Any more thoughts?

It looks like the throat depth is adjustable for gripping/crushing things of different sizes. The squared-off ends of the lower jaw tines is a clue - no idea of what though. I guess it could crush small bones, but doesn't look very efficient for doing that.

I noticed "D.R.G.M. (and a number)" stamped inside one of the handles.

I Googled it:
Deutsches Reich Gebrauchsmuster (German Reich Registered Design)

It's like a patent number from pre-war Germany.

If you Google D.R.G.M. plus the number you might get a hit that leads you to the answer.

Let us know....
