sorry - it was the duramax that got bad reviews on Amazon, not the Han-D pump. Thought it was the same product but it's not. The duramax picture was on a previous post and it looked pretty handy to me.

How many times you fuel up will determine how much effort you want to give to this. I know exactly the feeling you have and solved by simply putting 4 gallons in my 5 gallon containers. I use 2. Fill them to a weight you are comfortable lifting. The other benefit is that you tip them farther towards your fill before they pour, increasing the accuracy. Having large quantities of diesel around is great if you're a heavy user, but if you're not, there is no advantage to keeping that much on hand.
Seeing that you live in New York, (I'm Vt), getting fresh fuel is more important since they use additives in the winter to help prevent gelling. Cheap, easy solution, that costs the price of one diesel jug.

Regardless of the tube I still strongly suggest using something that does not require "minimizing splash". With a siphon or pump there should be NO splash. Even minimal splashes tend to get on clothes and body parts.
And it smells and stains.

Unless you are like me and think diesel is a perfume, and the clatter of a 7.3 on a cold morning is music.
(SWMBO doesn't.)

Better make sure everything has a ground clamp on it!

How many people here remember when almost everyone smoked, and it was normal to see people filling cars etc with a cigarette hanging out of their mouth. I guess fuel has changed over the years and must produce many more fumes than it use to.

I remember working at plant when OSHA started and this company was VERY safety conscious (national brand) they wrote up a violation for not having a GRD.wire for dispensing 85-140 oil said a static spark could set it off.
