Any Deere Techs out there

Just put the speed match and auto cruise upgrade on my 4610. It is a easy plug in upgrade but I cant seem to get it to work right. I can flip the switch to the speed match side and the accel.,decel. and set switch works fine. When I flip to the cruise side then the accel. decel switch doesnt work right. If you hit the set,decel. side it sets the speed like it should. From there you should be able to hit accel or decel to speed up or slow down, it doesn't do any thing . The resume. accel wont go back to the speed you set it just resets to the speed you going

I check all plugs and switches and power seems to be going where it is supposed too. I hate to say it but it seems like the cruise part of the drive controller is not working right

$$$ Sorry for the long post but I'm looking for some ideas.

Hello. I don't know about the 4610 but on the newer 3x20 series, you'll need to program the tractor's computer to recognize the switches once they are installed, otherwise, it doesn't know they are there. The instructions that came with the upgrade package should have directed you on how to program the computer but if it didn't, then you'll need to pick up a technical service manual to access the computer and program it. Programming the computer is necessary to match the machine to the options and equipment installed.

I have instructions on configuring the display on the 3x20 tractors but it's best you get the correct one for you because if you program it incorrectly and don't know how to get it right again, the tractor is not going to work properly and you'll be doing some cussing...

Thanks for the info. I just bought the 2 switches and harness so I dont have any paperwork. I have the service manual and it doesn't say anything about reprograming the controller. I think the newer deeres can change the motion match in steps where mine is only slow or fast. I dont think the 20's have the same controller as the 10's. The only thing I see in the book is how to recalibrate the tranny.

Actually, the upgrade kit is nothing more than the switches and a harness and the instructions. I upgraded mine in this manner. I beleive that the upgrade kit is actually cheaper than purchasing and sourcing the parts separately.

Do you have a small LCD display under the tach area that gives you feedback such as ground speed, etc? If you do, you can probably program it in fairly simply and it probably follows the same configuration conventions.

You had to buy the cruise upgrade sep. from the speed match upgrade on the 4xxx10 tractors. Both kits ran about 160.00, I looked up the parts sep. and it ran about 60.00 for both switches and the harness. I dont have the ground speed read out like the 4xxx20 tractors have. I have a digital display but it only shows the hours.

Perhaps you do have a different system. The technical service manual is not as intuitive as it could be. If you already have the manual, I'm sure it is in there somewhere. Mine is quite complete and I can not imagine any service procedure such as configuring an option not being addressed.

If it helps, I found the information in the following section:

Electrical--> Tests and Adjustments--> Configure the display.

It is tempting to search under speedmatch to find the information. Try the above and see if you can't find it there. The display is what you want programmed. It is not called "computer" in deere's manual.

Got the deere out today so I could mess with the cruise again, still not right. I took neg. batt. cable off for a couple min. just for the heck of it. Still wont work, so I just keep trying it over and over and over again. Then I got the decell. to slow it down once

so I keep woking it and after another 20 min. I get the rest of the syst. to work. It takes a very long time for the resume to get back up to speed but it does. Your guess is as good as mine on this one, I'm going with cobb webbs. I am going to use the switches every time i'm on it and maybe the reaction times will improve. Thanks for the help.
