JD 650
Purchased this JD 650 6 months ago. The tractor was working fine. I just used it for pulling a light trailer up a hill from my shoppe and some box blade work. I have no idea how many hours on the tractor the hour meter does not work. Had some 3pt lift issues recently was able to resolve by cleaning the filter and changing the fluid. Hooked up the trailer last week and noticed white smoke blowing out the hose that runs from the valve cover not the exhaust. After checking the oil I decided by the looks I would change it and the filter as recommended in the manual I purchased. Tractor was very sluggish to start but it did start and the smoke still blowing. I made a video of the smoke and where it is coming from. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Now the tractor will not start at all but when turning over the smoke is blowing but the engine hasn't even started? Sorry the video is not that great, filmed with my phone and i don't do videos much at all.

Thanks again for taking the time to read this post.

You might start by cleaning the PCV valve on top of the valve cover.
But if your 650 is sluggish starting in Florida, I would suspect excessive blow-by. I'd have the compression checked.

1. A compression check is an excellent idea.

2. I'm not seeing any oil residue building up on the floor under that hose, which makes me wonder if the white "smoke" is actually steam? That would point to a blown head gasket.

Based on that guess, I'd also look in the radiator to see if A) the water/coolant level is going down or B) there is evidence of oil in the water. Also look at the oil in the crankcase. If coolant is getting into the oil it should look like chocolate milk.

Thanks will check radiator for signs of water and oil mixed. Not knowing much about this type of repair is it considered expensive to have it fixed if it is a blown head gasket?

If you pay to have a shop do the repair, yes it will be costly. Shop rates of $85 to over $100 per hour are not unusual. I don't know what the flat rate to replace a head gasket is, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a bill over $500 and perhaps as much as $1000 with parts and labor.
