Love my 2012 Yanmar LX490 and will probably have it for a long time. The comfort and ergonomics and quality are tops. It is the go to tractor on our place even without the cab, but from the traffic on this "New Yanmar" forum section I wonder if any Yanmars (25-50HP) are being sold in this country other than the smaller ones. I find many of the dealers listed by Yanmar site no longer sell Yanmar. The one in my area is still a Yanmar dealer but he is a lawn and garden type of dealer and sells the smaller tractors, 25HP and under with the backhoe. The larger tractors don't fit into his customer base. He can of course order a bigger tractor but it took him too long to move the few larger ones he sold so he does not stock (floor plan) them. I got a fantastic deal I think because of that and no regrets so far because on three different occasions when I broke something, I picked up the phone and parts were were delivered in days. I don't run a mission critical operation so a fews days just is an occasion to adapt what I am doing to a new situation for a while, so the deal is still sweet but just wondering about some things.

Any USA sales information out there that some of you can share.

The problem around my area is most of the dealers are lawn and garden stores and do not have a clue about bigger tractors. I had a ex3200 and when I had a problem, The dealer had nobody that could work on it. They seem to give a dealership to anyone that wants one. I liked a lot of the features of tractor, but I was treated bad by the dealer and Yanmar was not much better. Yanmar was better off letting john deere sell and service the tractors.

Yanmar can't seem to make up their minds which way they want to go.

In the 80's, they imported them under their own name, but never seemed to get a good dealership thing going. I bought a YM220D in 1984, and loved it, even though it was too small. Beat the heck out of that tractor and it kept taking it.

Later, they cut the deal with John Deere, and quit selling them under their own name.

Then they cut the deal with Cub Cadet for a few years.

I bought mine latest one in (LX410) 2012, labeled Yanmar, but still CC yellow. Bought from the local New Holland/Case dealer that has been here for 60 years. Bought my previous New Holland from them in 1998 when I sold my YM200D.

Now they've gone back to red again (like in the 80's).

Who knows what they will be doing a couple years. I suspect we're gonna re-visit that dealership thing of the 80's yet again.

What they NEED to do is make a plan and STICK TO IT. They make a great tractor.....Yanmar beats the pants off the small New Hollands, I'll tell ya.....but apparently company management is not so great....or something.....

It really looks like Yanmar has made up their mind - piggyback on JD! Engines and power train for JD from lawn tractors to SCUT to MCUT to LCUT to SS to compact Excavators are Yanmar for 2015!

Yanmar has made up their mind and they are here to Stay !! Yanmar has been making Huge advances over the last few years. They still build alot of the John Deere Tractors and supply engines and transmissions for most of the other john deere models. BUT, I believe they are slowly divorcing John Deere and will be 100% building under the Yanmar name in the future. Our Yanmar Sales have been going up and up every year. We are Very Happy with the direction Yanmar is going !!

That is good to hear. I'm on my 2nd yea mar and love them. I just don't want to see them go away and I'm stuck with a tractor with no dealer for help or parts.

What about 2015?

No Yanmar tractors here in NZ, even though we have both marine and heavy construction Yanmar distributors. For some reason, nobody is distributing the tractors. If I was staying in the 50-ish hp category, that LX490 looks great. I only wish they had something bigger.

On a side note, I contacted Yanmar in Japan ages ago via their website. It took them over two months to get back to me, and when they did they didn't answer a single question I had asked, instead they wrote "...please kindly let us know the detail of your inquiry.".

When I pointed out they hadn't answered any of the questions I took the time to ask them originally, their reply was "Sorry for inconvenience" and that was it. They still didn't answer a single question.

I gave up.

I'm on my 2nd one as well. I sold the first one (1984-1998 YM220D) because all their US dealerships went away. As I previously said.....good tractors, now let's see if they make the commitment to stick around this time.
