I changed the anitfreeze 2 weeks ago on my GC, hadn't had time to post till now. I noticed the green was starting to gel in my overflow. Has anyone else noticed this??

No, what did you use?

No. How many hours on it?? Going to change mine out soon, to Cat ELC. (PDF here.) Good for 3,000 hours out of the jug, and can go 6,000 with an additive. Will be using pre-mix, and just a water flush.

I have changed my oils more than Massey recommends ( not sure why, guess i enjoy changing oil, and it runs better with new oil.... ) but i have never changed my antifreeze.... is it really that necessary ???

As far as the gelling, maybe it is not Diesel rated antifreeze  ???

Check your manual. 2 years or a certain amount of hours. Once I go to ELC, I will just test it.

The GC manual says change antifreeze annually.

:ashamed: OOPS! Guess I need to add that to the "to do" list!

Personally, since they do not specify what type, I put in Fleetgaurd heavy duty diesel antifreeze, (TSC sells it). Fleetgaurd has the anti-cavitation additives for diesel engines in it, and now just I test it annually. I can't see how antifreeze would need to be changed annually, for any other reason.

As long as it is low silicate, you are fine. I am doing Otto comply with warranty, and because I want a true long life coolant.

I've changed the anti freeze in mine twice now and the last time I just flushed it with water as well. There was no corosion or scale build up anywhere that I could see.I have a permanent mounted heater behind the seat for winter use.[ I just made it permanent this fall] it was getting to be a pain to drain and fill the system every spring and fall. .I do use the Diesel type long life Anti freeze as well. The tractor only has 1745 hrs and slowly climbing  Larry
