Is there a product on the market that I can purchase that I can spray on, hopefully aerosal can, that I can apply to painted surfaces that helps fight the formation of rust? I want a product that doesn't stain painted surfaces or collects dirt. I just want to be able to apply it and know that it is helping prevent rust! I posted this question in the lubricant forum earlier. Hope this is the correct forum. Thanks!

If it's painted then the metal is already protected. If the paint is in bad shape it might be time for a respray or maybe just a good wax job.

AMSOIL Metal protector. Its in an aerosol can and it dries almost to nothing. It leaves a light film of some sort behind, and it virtually eliminates surface rusting. Great product, I use it on my snowmobiles, and they get extreme moisture conditions. :D

Try LPS3 or LPS4 It will prevent corrosion and does not conduct electricity. You can spray the entire electronics on a boat engine when you buy one and the engine will look brand new years from now even in a salt water environment. It leaves a waxy film that does not melt or run off. You should hit the coating with a light refeshing every year or two. $10 will keep an engine looking new for years. Anything electronic exposed to weather should be protected.

If you'd like to try a sample can of Fluid Film, have never used it, and reside within the Continental United States, just send me an email at dwilliams@eurekafluidfilm.com, telling me where you saw this offer. It's the best way to find out just how effective it is.

It will stop corrosion on all metals caused by salts, fertilizers, or pesticides, and will lubricate for extended periods of time. Because it won't get gummy or sticky, it will also keep grass from clumping under mower decks and works great for combine chains.

Fluid Film.
Fluid Film.
Fluid Film.

My dealer gave me a sample can a few years ago when I had a couple quick release couplers rust togather. I know buy the stuff by the gallon. Fluid Film really coats well. I sprayed a rusted shovel and after a week or two the film had covered most of the shovel. It somehow moved UP. The teeth to my box blade are leaning against a tree and where pretty rusted. For grins I spray some on the teeth and the film spread and clean off/up the rust. Don't really care about the teeth but it was interesting. I put it on the PTO shafter, hydraulic couplers, 3PH pins, anything with metal that is or might rust.

I put the Fluid Film in a hand pumped garden sprayer which kinda works. I'll have to try the paint sprayer. The sprayer I'm using does not spray as just squirts the film out. The gallon container of Fluid Film is very thick. I think it uses Lanolin.

Later,
Dan
