Anti Freeze Coolant - So What's The Story?

I'm going to want to change the anti-freeze coolant in my Kubota soon and so? I have no idea what's what with anti-freeze/coolant these days, what's right, what wrong. Any help appreciated. What would a typical AutoZone/Napa/O' Reilly type store stock that would be appropriate?

last time i changed mine i went with the john deere combined product in my old JD870. They add some kind of conditioner. Who knows if its necessary

I have always used the standard 50/50 mix of prestone and water. If you buy it premixed you pay extra for that. Also some store name brands apparently according to a thread on here, are not what they claim.. I will stick to prestone in the yellow bottle and mix it myself.

I was told, only certain antifreeze should be used in diesels, and they are marked for diesel use?

Diesels take a special coolant to protect the cylinder walls of the block.

OK, thanks for the replies. Question remains in my mind, is this diesel specific anti freeze available at your typical, neighborhood auto supply store? Will the label even mention use in a diesel?

im sure they are. but i got mine at tractor supply near me. after all i only needed 1 gal, was no big deal

The last time I bought some, it was very clearly marked for use in diesel over the road trucks, at Advance Auto Parts.

Well, "Hello, BP". Long time no see, but I've heard that you are still around. I just bought the Kubota branded coolant from the dealer. It costs almost twice as much, but flushing and changing the Kubota doesn't happen that often. Cheers, Hope you had a good garden season.
