framer: Working on and off on it. Normally I would go out and cut for an hour or two and then split what I had cut. We got hit with a few snowstorms in December so that slowed things down, plus the other things we are doing around here. We heat mainly with wood and have an oil furnace for backup when we are going to be away. We have had around 70" of snow this year so that isn't too bad and there have been a few days that were -10 or colder but that is it for this year so it hasn't been too bad.
Tig: I cut a bit off the land and also had a grapple load delivered. got it the week after Thanksgiven and then we got the snow in December that slowed down the cutting and splitting a bit. I think there is about 8 to 9 cords there, but won't really know until I get it stacked.
Ductape: Heck we are away most of the time, just drive right up, oh did I tell you I got a new 1911 and case of 45 rounds!
scott_vt: Heck the chainsaw is old and the splitter needs an oil change, you wouldn't want them.
Highbeam: Started out as long logs some pretty good size. I split everything down so as to dry better and it is easier to haul into the house for the wood stove. If I am lucky the wife will bring it in if split small enough!!
bhostasa: Well the cost around here for a grapple load is anywhere from 650 to 900 dollars. I paid 700 for the load I got. Two years ago I paid 550 to the same person.
Steve_Miller: BarryinMN: Barry a semi load around here, talking about around 30,000 lbs will cost around $1,600. Problem is having space for the dual trailer rig to get in and out. Steve that is about the same USd here for log length. Split and delivered will be anywhere from $200 to S350 a cord in my area. Tell you at $350 a cord I would have to think hard and long and then turn up the oil furnace.
