Last I looked my MX5000 didn't have a ciggarrette lighter-type 12V socket to plug in to. So where would I tap in to a wire for power?

No experience with the light here, but looks like a good, portable idea. I have the same problem as JeremyL though, no cigarette lighter on the vehicle....

I suppose a guy, (or gal of course), could tap onto the fuse block and install a lighter receptcle...

Not much help with the light but I think I will give it a try since I can use it with my trailer also. I have dealt with R&P Carriages before and recommend them highly for quality of merchandise, price, and overall good place to do business with. I bought two sets of trailer brakes from them and they threw in a couple of extra small but nice to have items just to make sure I got my money's worth. I about fainted.

I really like the idea of magnetic mount lights. Anytime you can avoid permanent drilling or altercation is my rule of thumb. These machines should be around for a long time and carefull planning of accessories is advisable. The ones you refernced appear to be well built and worth the money. My vote is "Go for it".

Thanks,
Steve

Well - I bought three of these lights and they arrived yesterday. They will fit my needs quite well. Magnets are covered nicely to avoid scratching and they throw enough light for me. For the price, I have not seen anything comparable.

I plan two forward and one reverse - I will post as I go, but also bought a 3 receptacle marine outlet, waterproof PVC box, marine 12/2 awg, waterproof inline fuse. I plan to go direct to the battery.

I will cut off the cigarette plug from the marine receptacle and use waterproof butt connects to tie into the marine wire...

Looks good on paper right now - but think I got it figured out...

More to come...stay tuned

c-and-a,

Have you tried out these lights yet?

I have all the piece parts for my project... I have tested the lights and they are as I expected, they throw the amount of light I expected, but unclear as for the pattern but will surely suit my needs. I don't expect too many long nights in the seat - but never say never...

I will be replacing the cigarette plugs on the lights, with a fused, LED version - short money and easy job. I need to shorten the length anyways as they come with a ~12' cord.

The housing is plastic - but again, I don't think I could have bought the magnets and mounting for the price of the entire light...

Once I start the project, I will post some pics...
