Good think you trailerd your hi-lift jack with you down to the ranch!

So far I've not regreted getting the FEL. For general ranch work I can't see being without it. We were almost to the ranch when I kept telling Jim (the one who's changing the tire) "the road sure seems rough today". We had stopped earlier and checked the tires but nothing indicated that one was about to go. They were'nt even hot. After we got a better look at the tire it looks like a factory defect as there wasn't any puncture holes in it.

That brings back a painful memory of blowing two tires on the same side at the same time in late afternoon ... one spare ... 50+ miles from home ... used the JD5220 like you to "jack" the trailor and spent the next couple hours waiting for spare to arrive ... finished the change in the dark using tractor and it's lights!

Well I don't know about easier (unloading, unchaining and all vs. a bottle jack on the axle that can lift the whole rig)....but it sure is a lot more fun I would say! :D

And ok all you bias FEL owners (of course I have no FEL), you can lift that trailer with just the 3pt to!! :D :D

I'm just glad to see you had a spare, most don't seem to have one. Mine is bolted under the trailer.

thanks for the pics!

Easy to unload? Very easy as I use 4 5000lbs cargo straps and on this occasion didn't even bother with the ramps. Wish I had a picture of the truck when I backed the tractor to the end of the trailer as it almost picked up the backend of the truck. I'm still working on the center of gravity and where the most weight of this tractor is at to allow for as safe trailering as possible.

Besides it was only a couple of miles to the ranch and I decided to see how road worthy it was:D . 20 miles an hour sure seems fast when your bouncing on a tractor:eek: .

Knew a guy who had the same issue.. he had to put one spare on one side, and then chain the other axle up after removing the tire.. to ballance it... guess it was a white knuckle experience after that till he found a place with trailer tires..

Be carefull, I didnt see any chocks on the trailer tires or truck tires. I have seen what happens when you pick the back tires of the truck off the ground, the whole rig with you on it goes rolling out of control. saw the drivers side door of atruck that was left open folded all the way backwards agianst a pine tree. I alway set my truck in 4wd and block as many tires as I feel safe with depending on the angle its parked.
