Seeing as how our small town was pretty well damaged in 2021 people here are very sensitive to weather alerts. They have upped it to a level 5 for tonight. There WILL be tornados in our area. Girl next door has two young kids and her deputy sheriff husband will probably get called in to work. So, being a 'daddy with daughters' and the 'old man in the neighborhood' guess who is calming her down and offering solutions.

Being a hero is such hard work.

Looks like wind, tornados and mass flooding. The flooding looks pretty certain... I'm still praying for a 5 mile gap to preserve lives and property here.

I'm about certain we will be called out for flood recovery in the coming weeks

Southern Indiana here and it's not looking good for the weather this evening. And they're saying the flooding will be severe. I live very close to the White River which doesn't take much to flood the area.

We don't have flooding here on my little hill, but we are prone to wind damage. Luckily I dont have any large trees that can reach the house or barn

Fun times. The fact that it all drags out until Saturday night is even worse.

I won't get much sleep tonight in my neck of the woods here about 70 miles south of Lexington. While the area does not usually see the monster EF5's, we do get the occasional 1 or 2's.

My area's phone structure is antiquated/under built so I have no landline/modem. Rather, I depend on my Dish and Hughesnet which go off in heavy rain of course. That leaves me to rely on the "weather rock". Trouble is, it's hard to see the rock in the dark (humor).

I do have my "trusty" weather radio. Hmmm.

Do you not have a cell phone in the home?

They are predicting 12"-15" of rain here. Hopefully this will be spread over three days and not all at once.

Cape values are very high today... I'm not loving this setup. They say this could be a 1,000 year flood. 5 months of rain, in 5 days

We already have one tree down. Might be able to clear it before the rain

Make that two trees down. Roots pulled up... Trees looked pretty compromised already

They have flood warned the White River up here, something like 5' above flood stage

I love storms, and I'm all for being out in weather, but @CloverKnollFarms if trees are already coming down, I do not really think it is the time to be amongst them. I'd wait until later.

Good luck in the weather event to all of you; the predicted rainfall map looks almost tailor made to overwhelm the drainage basins. I've been on deck for what was later called a 1,000 year flood, and while it was amazing/fascinating/interesting, I think that I came close to dying several times due to my not appreciating what the risks are/might be when the weather event is so rare.

Stay safe!

All the best,

Peter

Looks like western TN is in a bad way right now. Very young super cells already rotating... Watching Ryan Hall Y'all on YT....

Seems the weather is getting more extreme. Here in south Louisiana, we have already had a record snowfall of 10" in January.

This past Saturday, I had 11" of rain in 5.5 hours, and a total of 15.8" in 4 days. Today, winds are in the 40 mph range, which is rare, except during hurricanes. More severe weather is predicted for Saturday evening.

I pray that everyone is safe for this weather event.
