hello to all. Once again I have a white smoke question.
I had the opportunity to get out and work the 1700 bd pretty good the past two weeks. I noticed while bush hogging no smoke, clear to a very miniscuel ammount of smoke. This, in my tractor newness, is great from what I understand. When I take the hog off and run unloaded both under, over or at the prescribed rpm I notice a constant flow of a small to low medium ammount of white smoke from the exhaust. No power loss at all and no overheating and probably nothing to be concerned about but thought I would ask for suggestions as to what may be causing it or concernes/comments.

On my 1700 it started like that then went to lots of blue smoke. Rings were worn out. If you'll PM me your email address I'll send you pictures of worn rings versus new rings.

My 990 was smoking in a similar way once and it turned out to be bad fuel. I think I got a bunch of condensation in the tank (tractor sitting half full for quite a while during a very wet, cool summer). The fuel was fairly dark in color and I was getting a lot of white smoke unless the engine was quite hot and working. I drained the tank, replaced the fuel filter, refilled with fresh fuel and the problem was totally gone.

Might be worth a try.

when you run without a load, is the tractor warmed up? How long has it been running and how long are you running it while smoking (not you, the tractor /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif )? And, does it smoke white when first fired up and eventually clear up (while brush hogging)? White smoke can be caused by cold temperatures or by water entering the combustion process... (which can be caused by a number of different things).. all of my tractors and truck smoke in colder temps (like 50* and lower) but clear up as the temp rises...
