8 gpm big enough?

NO. Double check your implement pump capacity. The only thing that I can find is that you have a 17GPM pump. I imagine that is actually the combined implement steering output if your tractor has separate pumps. Either way, an 8GPM control valve for your tractor would most likely cause some problems.

Cleanest install is to use an electric diverter valve in my opinion. Cheapest is probably to use a manual diverter. ;)

Make an mounting plate , and install the valve anywhere you can for a neat installation.

All valves in an open center hyd system are in series, so just connect the valves from PB out to the next valve. and tee the OUT/tank hose to a return hose.
