Tiller Another Question on Tillers

/ Another Question on Tillers #21
FWJ,

Yupper, had plenty oil. First thing I did when I bought it and checked it regular. When I ripped her to bits, I had full (well half full as prescribed) gearboxes.

I thought maybe I'd been too hard on it with the front lawn and maybe should have plowed first (still think so) but the thing looks to be built like a brick youknowwhat.

Still wondering where I went wrong. Maybe got a rebuilt sold as new????

Dave

I thought this thread had died. I got the CCM tiller and it does a great job. Took me a little time to learn how to use it. We are in a drought and the ground is very hard. But for smoothing out the spots where tobacco was grown will be no sweat. Here are a few pics of the tiller in action: http://www.pixagogo.com/7000025205 And this 66” tiller does not even put a strain on my little tractor. Plus, CCM was very good to deal with. Answered any E-mail I sent very quickly. I can’t wait until next year to put this baby in action.

Is it possible the slip clutch was set up to tight?
The KK tiller has a 40 HP gearbox if I remember correctly.
The Mahindra 5500 may exceed that. The slip clutch would need to be able to slip soon enough to protect the gearbox with that much tractor running it.
