Any ideas on FEL attachments to replace My 4in1 that would work better to get down a few inches into the soil for grubbing out blackberries,etc.Versa Corp. is located a few miles from me,and I checked out a Versa loader bucket. About $3500 for a 1/2 C.Y. I'd like to find something a little cheaper.

You could buy a flail mower and a tiller for that money.

Seriously, I would either, roundup the whole place a couple of times or mow it close with a rotary mower and buy a tiller and till it up a few times. Then you can put whatever you want there and you'd have the tiller for other jobs.

I'm not sure if I can describe this clearly but I'll try...

Open the 4n1. Rotate the bucket so that the bottom of the
bucket is perpendicular to the ground. Get the bottom of the
front part of the bucket so that it is flat on the ground as well.
Put some down pressure on the bucket and have at it.

I know that is not a good description. I could show you this
in 60 seconds but describing its another thing.

I saw a guy on a skidsteer doing this to rip up and smooth out
an area.

I was "bulldozing" a trail into some heavy brush Saturday and
the 4n1 worked just fine. Usually pulled the Russian olives out
of the ground just fine. I try to minimize disturbing the ground as
much as possible.

If this is not going to work for you. I would try mowing the
mess down and spraying the heck out of it with Roundup or
something similar...

I agree with you,using the 4 in 1 this way can really loosen up the dirt,I was doing the same thing the other day on an old logging road and it worked wonders.
