Another Newbie...My Favorite Color is Orange...I Think.

Ok, this will be long so sit down and rub your eyes before beginning. I live in central Illinois, and my wife and I just recently purchased five acres. It is as flat as flat can be....and is currently all pasture grass. The pasture grass is good since we will be bring two portable mowing mechines that are brown and furry. We have been boarding our horses for nearly five years and the price weve spent on rent would make anyone sick. We decided to take a plunge and go off on our own so all this has led me to this sight in search of a tractor that will fill my needs. I began looking at John Deere and was about an inch away from putting money down on a used 4110. It was a clean tractor with 225 hours on it but it had a 12,900 price tag. I joined this sight about two weeks ago and just now figuerd how to set up a new thread..... Anyways I have three Kabota dealers within 45 minutes of me and liked the ole mom and pop one the best. I have decided on the B7610 with the 352 loader. I hope this will be big enough to pull a pull behind mower, drill post holes and scoop poop. I saw my new lil buddy last week still in a box...I was just called today by the dealer and was told that he is ready to be delivered. I plan on calling him "mini moose". I ended up spending 13,700 delivered, with two hats. Im all ears for any comments or advise..

Since you've already bought it, what would you do if someone told you that you made a bad choice? But I really do believe you'll be very happy with that rig. You didn't say what kind of barn or shed you'll have for the horses and whether or not you got the folding ROPS, or whether the barn will have a high enough roof, for you to use the front end loader to clean out the droppings.

When I had my B7100 with a front end loader, I had a friend a few miles down the road who had a calf barn that hadn't been cleaned out in several years. Since he was a full time farmer, he had some big John Deere tractors, but they were too big to get into that barn, so I cleaned out the barn, and piled the stuff outside. He then loaded it into his dump truck (two loads) with one of his big tractors and dumped it in my vegetable garden. That worked well for both of us.

I think you'll find the B7610 a little workhorse - probably small enough to muck out your stalls - but tough and powerful for mowing and post hole drilling as well.

Just make sure you use a counterweight on the 3PH when "scooping poop" - because that sh*t is heavy! (I just couldn't resist!)

Thanks everybody for your responces so far. BIRD, in reference the barn issue, I just ordered a 60X40 with 14 ft. to the eves. I'll have one overhead, and two sliding doors that will be at least 12 ft tall so the ROPS wont be an issue. I just got the driveway cut in this week and went over the final plans for the barn. Hopefully within three-four weeks things will be starting. DAN, how do you like the tooth bar you put on....what was the install like?

The toothbar (I got mine from the great folks at Markham Welding) was @ 15 mins to install - simply slip onto the front cutting edge of the bucket - and use the holes in the toothbar as a drilling guide. Markham provides all the fastening hardware - so all you would need are a drill, 2-3 drill bits (1/2" hole is a little big to do in one pass...) and 2 adjustable wrenches.

As far as utility - if you are clearing land / pulling up saplings / prying up smaller rocks and boulders - a tooth bar can't be beat - it really concentrates the loader power into the teeth - the difference is really amazing. For mucking stalls though, I think taking the TB off (< 5 mins) will be better - the smooth bucket edge will work better on flat surfaces.

Bill, Congrats on your purchase too. What did you buy and from what dealership? I currently live in Newark, just north of Ottawa.
I purchased my 7610 from Streator Farm Mart. I felt that they gave me a good deal. I got several other quotes from other dealerships but had to play the price game.....Streator Farm Mart gave me the lowest price right from the start.

i've had my b7610 w/352 fel & woods bh for over 2 yrs. now.Works great!!!
As far as the mower question,i cant really answer that,but i will tell you this.
Last year i bought a 52" woods rototiller for it and thought it might be too much for the tractor.No way,heck it just plays with it.So it certainly ought to power a post hole digger.Good luck with your new machine.
