Hi guys... I just took possession of a 400-hr GC2310. The plan is to order a full set of documentation for it today or tomorrow but I'd like to ask a few questions here in advance of that. I searched my initial set of questions and found some answers. These are the remainders.

Where is the hydraulic fill point and check point? I read something about a sight glass but I was unable to find it. I have some hydraulic fluid leaking from the bucket control I'll need to correct so I want to keep an eye on the level.

The state of care this received by the previous owner is unknown. I obviously plan on greasing every zerks I can find, replacing all the fluids and filters and correcting issues as they make themselves known. Any other suggestions for taking possession of a new tractor?

It doesn't appear as though the previous owned a grease gun. The heim joints on the 3-pt are frozen... still no movement after hitting it with PBlaster yesterday. Are those repairable?

Also, seeing some fluid leaking from the front axle (see picture). How big a deal is that repair? IMG_20130630_221001.jpg

Are the pins that you find on this mostly proprietary or can they be had anywhere? Tried Tractor Supply for the clevis pins that lock the ROPS in place... no joy. Ditto for the self-locking clevis that locks the horizontal swing of the backhoe in the center position. I'm just asking where you get these kinds of things or if they're MF only parts.

Finally, the labels have fully worn off the left side and somewhat from the right. I'm not sure what the gray lever on the right does... 4wd?? I'm assuming the three on the left are PTO controls... close?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Levers on the left are PTO, top is for the 540, bottom is for 2000 and the1 closes to seat is to start the ptos. Gray lever on right if it is like my GC2400 is for the 3 ph and lifting and lowering your MMM. The fill for the hydraulics is behind the seat just above the rear pto, sight glass is also there. Have read it is hard to see with backhoe on. I think there is a thread on here that talks about repairing the front axle seals, Hope this helps.:D

Thank you Bakerg... sincerely appreciate it! I'm thinking I might need my borescope to check the hydraulic level.

Additional question to all:

I'm ordering the manuals right now... I see the service manual is broken up into a $120 manual labeled assembly, and a $27 manual labeled GC2310 packet. I assume I still need the assembly manual to work on this myself but just in case this has no value after the thing is assembled, let me ask... do I want both or just the packet to take of this thing myself? Thank you again.

If you didn't receive any manuals with tractor I'd pay the extra $27 and have them all.

About the oil leak - sounds like it has a loader, which adds stress to front ends. Using the loader, apply some down pressure to take the weight off the wheel in question. Then shake the tire and look for any movement at the joint with the leak. If there is no movement, the leak is just a nuisance. If there IS movement, you have bigger problems than just a leak.

Your suggestions are very much appreciated guys. Nice to be in the company of experts.

I'm no expert, just learning like you.;)

Manual assembly will be the complete service manual like a dealer would have, with the engine manual and the official binder as well. Not the actual directions to put the tractor together.
Looks like you need to replace the pivot seals on the front axle. Not a major job, about 45 min. A side.
With the backhoe on the sight glass is tough to see. I look through the opening on the back where the backhoe pivots.

I have a set of seals still in the package if anyone has a need. I can no longer use them. When I originally bought my GC2310TLB back in 2005, I purchased most of the spare parts that I could see a potential need for in the future. Turns out the only things I have left are those seals, the drive belt for the mower and a steering cylinder that was rebuilt by the dealer's shop. It was a really good little tractor for over 7 years.

Turfmaster, if you don't want mustangsallysdad's seals, I'm going to snag 'em! I also have a 2310, and I intend to keep it a long time. (I also have the 2325 MMM.)

Ditto on the sight glass- it's really hard to see with the BH on, but there's one "hole" through all that red steel back there, that if you get your head in just the right spot, you can see it. A flashlight is pretty much required. And yes, get the whole shootin' match as far as repair manuals. Money in the bank. Too bad they didn't come with the tractor....

Here's a couple pics: The sight glass is just to the left of the rear PTO driveshaft output, and you can just see the fill port (black plastic tube with plastic screw-on cover) behind the black bungee, directly beneath the hydraulic line with the blue and white tags on it. Hope this helps. WBB in NH
