Here's our new bundle of joy! :D Our third Diesel vehicle
(Actually we've had it for a little over 2 weeks now, but it took me this long to upload the pics - got 16+ hours on it already ;) )

B3030-HSD-F with R4's, block heater
LA403 with 60" Bucket and ATI Toothbar
RCK-30B 60" MMM
Woods RB72" Rear Blade w/skid shoes kit
...and the cherry on top...
Woods BH80-X (4-pt subframe mount) with Thumb, 24" and 12" Gannon buckets

So far I've mowed 3.5 acres (twice), leveled a knoll, dug a Groundhog Graveyard :p, carried some trees (thumb is awesome), and dug up a few stumps. The BH80-X is a beast, fully extended still has enough power to toss the rear of the tractor around if you let it.

Already have all my filters, fluids, & lubes for 50-hr service, and a Workshop Manual.

Bought from Neil at Messick's in PA after visiting all of the dealers in my area (Central MD). In addition to a great deal, a smooth transaction and delivery. They have an impressive operation, definitely worth giving them a hard look if you're within a couple of hours (or even if you're further away).

Thanks to everyone whose posts I scoured for 3 months before pulling the trigger. Definitely helped me tailor the final package.

Lastly, any not-so-obvious advice now on "how not to screw it up" would be greatly appreciated. :D

That is so cool, nutz. You're going to have a lotta fun with that. Better have those pix framed, it'll never be that clean and shiney again.

Been looking at the Woods BHs meself lately. Can't make up my mind whether to get a 9000 for the L4300 or a 6000 for the B7610. Can't afford either right now. I like the factory thumb and that curved boom. It appears to be a better hoe than the Kubota offering.

But where are the BUCKET HOOKS? You've been reading this forum and ordered up a FEL without bucket hooks? You must've skipped a few items on your assigned reading list ;^)

That is just too nice; I love that woods backhoe with the thumb feature. It is really the only way to go. My wife said it makes the tractor look like a giant Bug. Looks like your all set to do some damage.

Thanks fellas. I actually spent hours cleaning it up and detailing it for the "photo shoot" - I musta shot about 60 pics all around and under the hood. Not only will it never be that clean again, it will never have that much paint! :)

For roughly the same base cost (not including thumb) I thought the BH80-X was the more capable setup. So far I haven't heard of anyone bending or breaking anything on one. In addition to the curved boom selling point, there's the warranty - 2 yrs vs. 1 for the BH75. It is a little trickier to attach though.

Have no fear, bucket hooks are definitely in the cards, once I settle on exactly how I want to configure them and more importantly get the time to fab & weld. For now, in a pinch I could throw a chain over a few teeth, the toothbar is at least 3 times as heavy as any part of the bucket.

I just passed 70 hours on the exact same tractor and I also bought it from Neil at Messicks. Great guy to deal with and his pricing was way less than the closest dealer to me.

I have the same backhoe with thumb but only the smaller bucket. I did get a detachable FEL with a heavy duty set of pallet forks.

I can't keep my neighbors off of the thing but at least their properties are looking much better these days.

Keep an eye on the bolts that hold the backhoe to the axle of the tractor. All of mine backed out and the backhoe fell partly off. My fault for not checking all of these spots but from what I can tell whoever mounted it used the dummy bolts instead of those recommended by Woods.

Thanks MK, I sure will! At the rate I'm going I'll probably be hitting 70 hours before I know it. Already up to 20+. When we're home, the wife can't keep ME off it :)

Great Tractor. Neil Messick rocks!
Cut it out, you'll give him a big head and he'll start taking bigger cuts :D
Neil's a good guy. I pestered him with LOTS of questions over a couple of months, didn't seem to mind, wasn't pushy about the sale, and didn't miss any of the fine details which is a sticking point w/me. Can't beat that.

I just love coming to this tread to look at thing. I so want that Backhoe on my 7800 but it will have to wait other things more pressing like my wife’s built in pool. That was the deal I got my Tractor and she gets her pool. As long as I don't have to bury a horse I can live with out it for a year.

Very nice. Backhoe looks great! (Whole setup look's great!) Perfect with thumb and two bucket's. Have you tried the adjustable swing speed yet? That's a nice feature. Hope you have lot's of fun working with your new machine!

Explain to her how with the backhoe you can excavate the pool, thereby saving $$$ to help pay for the backhoe.:D

Thanks Curt! Yep, I started out with it near "tortoise", but now that I'm getting the hang of it, edging toward "hare". I do wish it also regulated the boom up/down, which to me moves way faster than any other cylinder. Gets a good pucker goin' when you see that big hunk of iron comin' up at you a tad quick :)
I've been having a ball ... except when the wife sees me. Then I wipe the drooling grin off my face and try to look real serious, hot and worn out... you know, like working all those powered hydraulic controls is hard labor. ;)

sweet, i need to get me one of them there backhoes, sounds like you're having a ball!! what am I doing this weekend with my tractor? parking it in the shade and taking some time off, we're having record heat waves here and no rain in sight for at least 10 days.. welcome to the Pacific NW in July. No A/C and no rain, all my grass is turning brown, and i've lost 5 lbs today just sitting here.. ok, i suppose i'll at least start the beast up and take it for a spin down the road.. gotta keep the parts lubed.

cheers,
bigballer

I think our wives were separated at birth... uncanny... I had to convince her that when we expand the house, the money saved digging & backfilling our own basement & footers will help pay for it, plus offer to give up some of "my" other future purchases I had planned, PLUS convince her how the BH is the only key to some of her landscaping dreams. She bought it... but not without eyeing me the whole time like I was the Unabomber applying for a UPS job. So now I make a little extra show of using the BH for stuff it isn't completely necessary for, so that she's reassured its purchase was justified.
Thank goodness she has no interest whatsoever in this website! :D

That is so true, My wife has no intrest in the internet at all and I kind of like it that way. She seems to know when I'm full of ****, I guess after 22 years they kind of learn all your tricks. I have been working on the tractor thing for a couple of years now. I think she just gave up so I would stop being a pest about it

Lucky you! I have to wait 3 more till I get the tractor paid off!! Wife limits me to "one toy at a time"....LOL Of course if I run across a real "BARGAIN" before then.....:)
