Ok guys, here's my home made light brackets.

It fits even if the ROPS is up or down.

  • Photo #1 and #2 show the general look of the thing.
  • #3 shows a close up of the bracket
  • #4 ROPS down
  • #5 ROPS down close up
  • #6 dashboard
  • #7 dashboard close up
  • #8 dashboard at night
  • #9 dashboard unused blue indicator now plugged with my front light switch
  • #10 extra night shot
I like pictures and I know that you like it too guys so enjoy. The photos are 800x600 medium quality. I'm sorry for the volume of the files but a minimum quality was required.

Real nice job.Thought about mounting some on my 7610 like that but i was afraid i'd catch them on some tree branches and rip them off.

Great job - curious of the light wattage as well as the availability of the dash switches?

Looks stock!

Steff,
That looks great. That last picture I thought was a 747 landing though :D

Looks good. Paint matches really well. Is it Kubota?

Are the light switches stock and if not, where did you get them. I like the idea of the lighted switch. Looks purdy. :)

55W halogen work lamp, flood light pattern: I must say that the illuminated zone is better than what I'd expected. The dash switches are genuine Kubota parts. I first saw those switches on a L48 working light kit (option). The switch is very well made and it called me daddy. So on my dash they are. ;) Here's the part number: 36919-54222. A bit pricy for a switch but I tell you this, it worths every penny.

Yes the paint is Kubota Dark Gray 70000-00210 (acrylic enamel). 2 layers of primer and 3 layers of gray paint. Once the enamel has hardened it's ok but it cannot be compared to a powder coated paint or even an epoxy one. For light brackets it does a good job.

I've bought the switches directly at my Kubota dealer. Usually that switch is mounted on Kubota excavators or TLB like a L48 and maybe a L39.

Each pairs of light are protected by a 15 amps fuse mounted on a panel inside the engine compartment. They cannot be turned on if the tractor isn't running (to prevent draining the battery). The switches are illuminated only when the head light switch is activated. Actually it was pretty funny to rig the wire harness beneath the dashboard to make it works that way.

The lights are just a bit lower than the top of the ROPS so where the ROPS can go the lights can too. And the width of the lights are a bit less than the tires' width so where the rear wheels can pass through the lights can go too. The brackets are solid enough to resist small branches but we're talking about lights so caution is always required when passing nearby trees. I'm aware that I have a tractor not a tank.

I forgot to say that the brackets are made only with mild steel 2" wide by 1/4" thick. It cost nearly nothing to make. All the bolts, washers and locknuts are stainless steel. And euhhh... the wire gauge is 14.

I'll use the lights mainly for blowing snow but I'll use them too when digging with the backhoe. Sometimes when digging a hole or a trench it's hard to see the bottom in the half-light. Now I'll be able to use the rear lights. For God sake as I think about it I could even mow my yard at midnight. :D Hmmm... I don't think that's a good idea after all.

Oh, back to serious matter. I'm quite happy with the 40 amps alternator. The 14 amps dynamo that I had on my BX23 was a bit annoying because at idle rpm the 55W light mounted on the rops wasn't very bright. At rated rpm the brightness was good though. With an alternator it's totally different. Idle or rated rpm, it makes no difference at all, the brightness is always good.

I just thought I could had a picture of that panel.
  • rear lights = red wire (gauge 14) 15 amps fuse
  • front lights = blue wire (gauge 14) 15 amps fuse
  • rear power outlet = red wire (gauge 10) 30 amps fuse
I forgot to say that the switches operate relays only. I cannot take a shot at the relay assembly because I mounted them with the rest of the relays beside the streering post. I'd have to remove the lower part of the dash to get access and I don't want to do it again.
