The reason they recommend SUDT over UDT is that SUDT is multi viscosity and in cold temperatures it will flow better at start up…
If you are located where the temp regularly gets into single digits, then you may want SUDT instead of UDT. However the price of SUDT is as high as a quality synthetic, so if you are willing to spend that much for a multivisc why not get a synthetic? ?
Greenfield Dave is not far off with “Probably because they make more money off of the "Super" fluid!!!!”
hwew has me convinced that Chevron synthetic All Weather THF is the best choice, BUT, like others have found, I discovered it’s only available in 55 gallon drums. (I could see getting 15 gallons but I’m not interested in storing a 55 gallon drum)… So I’m back to regular UDT. I am in Kansas so there is no reason to get multi viscosity, a few minuets extra time to allow the trans/hydro fluid to warm at start up is not a bad idea anyway. I’ve always allowed a little time at idle to circulate fluids anyway, and to let the cab start warming on my

I will probably go back to TSC Premium hydraulic fluid. I have never found a problem using it and the price is low enough you could change it often if you like. KennyV.
