So take a look at the picture. Notice the gap? This should be flush On further inspection 2 of the 6 bolts holding the wheel motor mount to the chassis are broken off. As well I am missing a bolt on the other side. Broken off. Haven’t checked the rear bolts yet IMG_5295.JPGIMG_5296.JPG

Can we see the videos of you dune buggying in your 1850?

Seriously, what are doing that generates all of this damage that looks like it is impact driven damage? I can't imagine what would slam the rear end down to shear bolts, unless they were fire damaged in the first place.

You are keeping me guessing!

All the best, Peter

I am wondering if it isn’t the chains I run with. Too much traction. Again the history of the Machine is checkered. It could be something that has been missing since the beginning and I never put it together. I will never know.

Most of us use chainsaws to cut down trees. But I guess you can just use your "swiss army knife" Power-Trac, and just keep ramming it into the tree until the tree falls down....

:D :D :D

Your chiropractor must love you.... he calls his new Porsche "Carl".

I salute you! :)

By wheel motor mount, is that the box the wheel motor mounts into? I thought those boxes were welded onto the frame.

Every machine is different. For me there are 6 hex cap bolts holding the motor mount to frame.

Are you running duals like it shows in the picture? If yes this puts a lot more strain/ torque on drive train and might explain the broken bolts. I have seen duals break the axles on farm tractors.

Yup, I have duals but the machine is designed for it. I am waiting for the other dual wheel owners to chime in and see if they have all 6 bolts. Tomorrow I will call the factor to confirm how to remove and will get some new ones put in.

Aye, laddie, tis always good to check with the Factor, afore ye take action on the Laird's wurk now, tisn't it?

Three cheers for the hardworking Factors!

Thanks. You had me ROTFLOL.

Spoke to Terry at the factor (OK i was typing too fast). He says once in a while he has heard of one working loose and letting go. Mine don't look like they loosened but maybe one did and then took another. Anyway, should be an easy fix, just have to pull the welder out and accept a lost day of work.
