that's a good project , what i used was a fiberglass cover for a chevy truck 6 ft bed
a couple of 2 inch muffler pipes with 45 % bends and the frame rails for a old twin size bed .
to keep Cool I used a 12 volt radiator fan for a Chevy Lumina . just some other idea's for you all .

The insulation does more than cut down on noise it also helps with radiant heat. I use to have an old backhoe that would cook you under the factory canopy until I put some reflective bubble wrap underneath one day out of desperation.

When I built my shed, I added fiberglass insulation in the ceiling,, with hopes that it would stay cool.
WOW,, it is incredible,,
The shop stays cool all summer,, except for one or two "blistering" days,, the shop is always cool enough to work.

The insulation does zero for holding in heat during the winter,
I have no way of heating the building,, (too many air leaks)

If I have to do something in the winter, I use a couple radiant propane heaters that get moved close to the project,

I see where you were coming from now, the shade part isn’t metal, just the frame. The cover is a “drop“ of high impact plastic I had left over from a gas powered rotary broom project.

Metal will get hot in sun for sure, in the summer my smokers read 150 F Before you start the fire.
