Hi all,
Lurked TBN in the past while I was looking at old Fords (8N, 2N, etc) but now I find myself thrust into openly participating because I have become the proud owner of a not-so-new (and not running) Shibaura SD2043. The former owners had "Some very nasty noises coming from it" and fainted when tyhe local Ford/New Holland dealer quoted a repair. Being a guy with a reputation for being able to fix things (???) they said I could have it if I picked it up.
It's in my driveway.
I'm a former auto mechanic (80's, GM, gasoline) and now find I have to figure out Japanese diesel tractors with hydraulics. Most likely heavy engine work to boot....
Oh, and all the placards and stickers on the Shibaura are written in Japanese.... translations anyone?
I'll be haunting the Shibaura forum and possible the "Grey market" one as well. I'm *told* my beastie is similar to a Ford 1710, but I'm getting conflicting reports on that comparison.
Anybody who wants to come and rescue me is welcome and I'll buy 'em a beer!
