Another Dry Summer?

Bird thanks for the info.....I am in the process of buying a chipper/shredder and have been looking at the Bear Cat 71020, it is a 5" with a Kohler 20hp engine. What are you using and how would you rate it....? Thanks, Wally, P.S still raining......

Wally, you don't even want to know what I've been using for a chipper/shredder/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif, a 5hp Craftsman that my brother bought several years ago; slow, tedious work. Sounds like you're looking at a good one, and what I'd like is a PTO powered one, but just too expensive for the little use I'd get out of it now. The first 4 years I was here fixing up this place, and clearing space in solid timber to build my brother's house, I used one a lot, but not anymore.

I haven't played with the camera in awhile, so I decided to see how it'd do on a cloudy day. It was 70 degrees at 6:30 a.m. this morning, then the norther hit and instead of going to 90+ as it has been doing, it was down to 60 by noon.

Great garden Bird! It has been extremely dry here untill yesterday at about 3:00 P.M. We got 2 inches of rain and last night a big storm cell went through and we got another 2 1/2 inches. It was enough to make the corn crops for the farmers who don't irrigate. Of course it came after we had allready watered all the flowers.

Thanks for the drought monitor site address. Real interesting. I live in the the only section of the U.S. that is experiencing an exceptional drought according to the map. I will try to attach a of picture of our lake, or what is left of it. It is down nearly 7 vertical feet. Our lake has receded (or our property has increased - depending on your outlook) over 330' since 1998. The end of our dock is now nearly 100' from the waters edge.

Wildfires are an every week occurence down here. Hopefully we will return to a normal weather pattern soon. Unfortunately the "experts" don't think that is going to happen.

Quite a garden, Bird. You can tell by how green things are that you've had more rain than we have in SE Louisiana. Hope that cool front you talked about makes it this far & brings some rain with it. Checking the weather radar loop, I see some weather approaching Baton Rouge - - maybe we won't have to water tomorrow.

Tdog and Jimmoore, we sure got some cool weather (record low for this date is 51 and the weatherman thinks we might break that record tonight; forecasting 49), but the rain went north of us and south of us again and we didn't get a drop./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Everything's looking nice an green down there. Hopin' to get all my plants out this week. Right now it looks like the ol' Homelite waterpump might get a good work out this summer.

As for Another Dry Summer, here is a link to a story on the weather here in Maine from this morning's newspaper. Less than a half inch of rain since April 12. Might set a new record for the driest spring.
