I'm recently experiencing two problems with the clutch on my KM454.

1. I've noticed slipping in it (only 300 hrs on tractor) when put under heavy loads and pulling up hill. Is there any internal adjustment that can be done? Adjustment of the linkage has not improved anything.

2. Tried the first PTO implement since last season a few weeks ago and the clutch will nor disengage to allow shifting into gear. I'm assuming may just be stuck from sitting over winter. Can it be accessed from the small inspection cover on the clutch bell and pryed apart?

Thanks

To correctly "adjust the linkage", you must remove the inspection plate anyway. So I'm not sure what - if anything - your adjustment did. With the inspection cover removed (tranny in neutral, brake set) rotate the clutchpack and observe all three clutch release fingers. They should be equidistant from the face of the throwout bearing. If not, you'll experience the symptom you describe.

Each finger is held in place with a spring that's tensioned with a hex nut. The hex nut is held in place with a jam nut. One or both may be loose/missing, or the retaining wire could be broken. If the finger is just loose, tighten with the hex nut so the finger height matches that of the other two. Tighten/replace the jam nut.

Then adjust the length of the clutch pull rod (the one between the pedal and the clutch lever). Doing so moves the throwout bearing towards or away from the finger "tips" as required. You want a very small gap of perhaps 1-2mm. It's a hard place to fit a feeler gauge, I use a hacksaw blade.
