But the big circle by the pic of the blade does say “5X5pac” and that could be confusing.

I am confused. Nowhere does it say 5 packs of 5 blades.
I am trying to understand how you got the 5 packs of 5 blades in your head based on what I see?
Reading it fast and you made yourself see something that you wanted to see but was not actually there maybe?

It clearly says 5TPI (teeth per inch), 9" long and a 5 pack. Are you not seeing what I am seeing?
"5 PK 5 TPI BLADE" and also "Recip Swbld 5tpi/9" 5pk"

The ad shows a big old circle that says:

5X
5 Pack

One could think that means five 5-packs at first glance.

I discounted that completely as a stock photo when I read the title and again read the description.

I had to look at it a couple times, too. Then I saw what he was talking about, and yes, I could see how at first glance someone might think it's 25 blades total. Heck, I'd take a closer look if I saw that. I've run into a few good deals that way.

Since I just bought one similar blade for $9 at Home Depot I would be reading the fine print or think the blade was inferior and check the reviews - and there are no reviews - the second red flag. All of my "too good to be true deals" are flops.

There are other listings such as 6x 5pack - would you not interpret that as six packs of 5 each, or 30 total?

To the op, I don't think it's an intentional bait and switch, it's just the typical bad data problem Amazon has these days. Any third party seller can create a new item listing and upload their picture, which is most likely what Tools Plus did in order to legitimately sell bundles of five 5-packs if there was not already a listing for that quantity. Then most likely the new seller incorrectly picked this listing for their item (just one 5-pack) with a much lower price. If what you receive is not the expected five 5-packs then when you click to return it select the option for "does not match item description" or whatever they call it and you will be refunded the full amount and not be out any cash.

It's annoying and a waste of time, but that's just the cost of buying through Amazon these days. Like others mentioned, if you are careful to stick with the main item listings (especially where Amazon is one of the sellers) you are much less likely to have to deal with it.

The switch was from a "known" seller to an unknown seller.
They also show:
12 x 5pack for $139
2 x 5pack for $27.50
4 x 5 pack for $51.50
3 x 5pack for $39.95
So I thought they had a special on them.
And the big circle in the ad now says 5X 5 pack

It looks like that product offering on Amazon is generically using a product image originating from Tools Plus (with the Tools Plus logo in the image) regardless of which seller is selling them. Amazon will typically show you the lowest price offering when you view the product page. You need to look for 'Ships from and sold by ..." next to the 'Add to Cart' button to know which seller it is actually coming from or click the link to the left of that to choose other sellers. Yes, that is sort of misleading about the picture. If you report it to Amazon they will probably correct the image.

And yes, the 5x/5 pack circle is also confusing. But elsewhere it indicates it is a 5 pack so that one also can be figured out. As with Amazon, eBay, etc. things can be complicated. The good thing is that shipping is free and they are easy to do returns with so if you don't like what you got they will fix it for you.

I got the intent of your post.
Its quite possible that Tools Plus is their tool selling store
The sold by Mirako can be the parent company. not too unusal. Think of it this way....
Jack and Jill went to Dad and each wanted to have a company on Amazon. Dad was willing to help.
Jack wants to sell tools. Jill wants to sell farm equipment. Dad sells dream catchers.
Since Dad is organizing this as a family business he is calling it Uphill enterprize.

I placed an order about 2 weeks ago for a book. Then to qualify for free shipping I added a Buck knife to replace my old one which is out in the woods someplace. :(
The book came in a few days and I've already finished it. The knife supposedly shipped over a week ago but for some reason I couldn't track it; the last thing I saw was that it was ready and waiting for USPS pickup. Today they finally notified me that the were refunding my money as they can't find it or send me another. Yet I still got my free shipping on the book, and some discount which I haven't figured out yet meaning that I got the book for half price. They treated me well and I have no complaints about their service.

I would rather have the knife though.
