1986 Ford 1710
My 1986 ford 1710 is popping out of second gear on the range selector. I can feel 1st and 2nd are weak when put into gear and 3rd and 4th have a strong audible click.

I did a search and it is hopefully my detent springs and or detent balls.

Where can I buy these parts before I tear into it!

Update! Fixed my problem, took it apart and found some *** had opened it up at one point and lost spring. They replaced it with what seemed like a pen spring.

Luckily I am a gunsmith and had a crap load of springs that i could trim down to size. Works 100% now! I think I was shy about 1/32 or 1/16 of an inch in length, but still works perfect. Gears go in solid now with audible hard click.

On another note: I found a thread that had pics of how the springs and detent balls are on the 2 shifter on the floor model. The 1710 with shifter on the tree, has a plate below shifter with 3 screws, Remove screws and take plate off and underneath are the 4 springs and balls.

Glad the issue was an easy fix. The 1710 is a solid tractor and should last decades.
