Annoying Spam E-Mails

What do you do when some company keeps sending the same e-mails over and over? There are several companies with whom I've done business in the past which send e-mails almost every day, but it's usually only one or two a day that they send and I just delete them. However, CreditReport.com, with whom I've never had any dealings of any kind, is sending the same e-mail over and over. I think they sent it 22 times yesterday and 14 so far today. They show to come from CreditReport@internationalmarketsservice.com. What's the best way to stop something like that?

What is your e-mail program, you'll be able to apply a filter to either just delete the e-mail (you'll never see them again) or my favorite thing to do is to forward a copy of their e-mail back to the company, then have the email program delete it. So it takes up their time to look at it. Just let us know how you look at your e-mail...

Who is your email provider? Do you use webmail or a mail client (such as Outlook or Thunderbird)? Are you marking these emails as spam?
I use gmail webmail and it catches most (99%) of the spam emails that I get.
I can also setup filters that will catch emails that I dont want to see and dump them to someplace (like spam or trash).

Have you every opened any of them to see if they have an "unsubscribe" link? All of the corporate ones I've ever received have this option. I'm lucky if I get one a week.

Yes, I've heard that "unsubscribe" option just verifies your e-mail address for them, but in this case, I actually did follow that link to "unsubscribe" but so far to no avail.

I use Outlook Express and my Norton Internet Security labels them a being spam, but some are sent to the Junk Mail folder and some just to my Inbox. Since the e-mails are the same, I'm not sure why they don't all go the same route.

I'd forgotten about being able to apply a filter. So I just did that but if I understand it right, it only sends them to the Junk Mail folder instead of completely blocking them. So we'll see.

I do the same as KL7N. All that I have seen have the unsubscribe option in small print at the bottom. It works for me. The only problem is that you get rid of one there is always another to take it's place.

Be careful with that link. The shady spammers out there will keep sending you spam as your address is now "confirmed" as working.

That's what I use on Outlook. Sends it staight to the delete file :thumbsup: . Still have to delete it after that though.

That's what I've done, but I'm still getting them. So far, at least, they're now going to the Junk E-mail folder. And of course, I still have to delete from there, and then from the Deleted Items folder.

Bird, that's exactly how mine is setup. A few years ago I was getting many spam e-mails every day. Called my internet provider and what they did was reroute my e-mails through my alternate e-mail address, then it comes to my old present address. This alternate e-mail address has a much better filter on it. Now I may average 1 spam e-mail per day vs. 1 -2 dozen a day. Didn't want to give up my old present e-mail address I have had for about 20 years, even though the company has been bought/sold about 5 times.
